| Television is
undoubtedly a driving force, a source of entertainment and
relaxation, a passion and point of information, and by and
large - definitely an integral part of our daily life ,
among us Indians. For almost 30 years , probably
more, Movies and Bollywood has had it's supremacy
and dominance in creating trends, budding romance in our
hearts, given birth to stars , nay Superstars and MegaStars.
But with the advent of Satellite Television, much
has changed - i feel... for the good. Television in
India today not only provides us with the infotainment
we craved for, has created screen icons ( Kkusum,
Jassi, Hiten-Gauri to name a few), given rise to a
whole new industry - the Television 'industry',
which was non-existant in the reign of DD1 and DD
Metro.
Television broadcasting rights, Advertising
on TV, TRP, VJ's, Chat Shows are words which have now
been included in every Indian's dialect all of a sudden.
And you still ask me WHY ? :-)
When we started DiscussTV.com, we knew that there was a
huge fan base of Indian television, not just in
India, but among every country of the world , in the form
of NRI's, our neighbouring countries, as
well as people of other countries and language as well.
But yet there were not a single comprehensive site which
can cater and properly provide a platform for
uniting this population. There were other sites in the
form of YahooGroups, forums which had a TV section, Media
/ Content portals which occasionaly brought out
interviews. We aim to encompass all of this through a
central platform.
Initially , we started this website with the
help of few friends sharing the common interest and
enthusiasm, which has been able to infect , by now 3500
and more members and constantly growing. With the help,
love and patronage of all our visitors, we hope to
make it grow much bigger and be able to provide
what we have sought after.
