Zee TV serials, now and before Options

I saw the other topic on Star TV serials .... well , its been a long long time i have seen any Zee TV serials myself ...so i can't comment on the current zee TV serials .
but , i remember before Star came on so strong on Indian TV . When i used to watch , there were some real good serials on Zee TV .
if you remember , serials like : Baat Baan Jaye , Chaataan , Hum Paanch ,Banegi Apni Baat, Close Up Antakshaari . Man , those wre quite good , and best part of them were they were NOT TYPICAL SERIALS . Today's Star Plus serials are very Formulae based ... you can smell from a 100 yards , a Ekta Kapoor serial .
Banegi Apni Baat was one of the first serials i saw which started with a college campus life , i think , which later climbed upto the personal lives of the students , then their married life etc.
Hum Paanch was a comedy serial that brought almost all members of the family laughing together in spite of being slapstick type .
Close Up Antaakshari - simply rose to its heights because of the amazing compere by Anu Kapoor. I know Chataan may not be a super serial in the same manner but i somehow found it very interesting at that time . There were some powerful actors in it .
Baat Ban Jaye - staring Niki Aneja , Rohit Roy and Rakhi Tandon , was a hindi version of 2 Guys and a Girl , i think. It was certainly quite a cute serial , with lots of fun and hanky panky . Filmstar ranjeet also acted very nicely in it .
If I can remember more , i will add them .

Oh yeah , i remember another one .... i do think it was on Zee TV only ... Hasratein . It was the first serial on Indian TV if i am not wrong , featuring a Extra Marital affair .... keyword being Featuring . Probably , their were other serials which have shown Extra Marital affairs , but not highlighted like this one . And , i do remember the serial was quite ably directed and enacted by actors like Harsh Chaya ,Shefali Chaya etc.

i believe zee was d first hindi channel on cable...n ruled till d day these "K" serials took over star plus.personally i was a big fan of yule love stories :heart: ....the idea of a new story every week was great ....wish there were more serials followin that format

I agree wid tublu , they have now gone in for the formula based saas bahu or extra marital affairs kinda stuff , but then again the production houses are to blame , for eg Balaji Telefilms was the producer of mano ya na mano which was a supernatural based thriler & was pretty good. Back in those old days ... campus was one of my fav shows

Zee Tv used to be kickass bak in past but now its Starplus that rules the world!! WoOhoo!

Balaji iz the best, yet the worst production house. I know that made no sense, I'll explain: It has great dramaz, but ALL of it's dramaz are complicated.
