A few changes to the rules as well:
- The three litre V10 engines have been replaced by 2.4 litre V8 units
- After a whole seasom of making tyres last for qualifying and the race, F1 will again have drivers making regular pitstops for fresh rubber.
- Qualifying: All cars will be on the track together at first, with three separate sessions in a one-hour period instead of last year's single-lap format with just one car out at a time.
The slowest six cars in the first 15 minute session drop out and take positions 17-22 on the starting grid. Six more are eliminated after a second similar session, taking places 11-16.
The final 10 drivers then fight for pole position in the decisive 20 minute session.

Indians may have to watch practice on Fridays more seriously than the qualification and main race if they want to watch NK in action– in case he gets to drive.
This Super Aguri may be a no-show here, since they'll be using a chassis used by the defunct Arrows team, and maybe an old Toyota engine.
Would you say Williams have downgraded by choosing a Cosworth? We all know how problem-ridden their partnership with BMW has been, but BMW make good engines that are race-ready and can win races, and are rated highly. We've seen Cosworth cars bring up the rear, if they finish the race, but Williams is a lot richer than those teams.
What are your comments on the new-look McLaren?

Yea. Exciting start ! Expecting Kimi to wipe Renault !

And BTW, I need to correct u Arjun - Narain Karthikeyan is a "Factory Driver" ! His job is to report the technicalities and unfortunately, he is not the TEST DRIVER as u think he is ! SO he isn't gonna be seen on the track for atleast this season !
Arjun_M
Mar 11 2006, 03:13 AM
Hang on, they picked Narain as the 'second test driver', didn't they?
CoDeBrEaKeR_1001
Mar 12 2006, 11:46 AM
Second Test Driver, but his job is to run the Williams at the factory and report the car's technical aspects to the engineers ! And anyways, there's no 2nd Test Driver as such coz only 1 Test Driver can run the mean machine in Practice Session !

Firstly, I love the look of the new McLaren cars ..
Full chrome finish with red wings 8->
I'm with Kimi this season, well Sunday's race showed that Schumi can never reclaim his earlier standing in the game
And Kimi is my fav from the next crop of guys, closely followed by Webber, Button and Fisichella.
Whats your opinion on the new rookie on the block Nico Rosberg ?

Apr 3 2006, 11:13 AM
Well, Couldnt catch up with the first three races 'live' ....but Renault seem to be the runaway leaders....
Alonso continuing from where he left last year, Fisichella giving him some competition.
Ferrari dont seem to have the strategy to excel atleast in hot conditions.
McLaren need to get both cars to the finish line, Button... the 1st podium place still evading him!

If there's 1 thing in Kimi's mind, its obviosuly the fact that he needs to complete the race. But for that he needs a gud car. And I think he's completely sane wen he talks abt his car and the fact that he's thinking to move elsewer probably to Renault or Ferrari !
And I find the McLaren boss extremely stupid while saying that Kimi can leave if he wants to and that they can find a replacement for him very quickly. Yea rite. A replacement for the Ice Man ?

San Marino (Imola) GrandPrix:
Yet another classic!!! Very much similar to last year with a difference that the first two positions were exchanged!
Yup....the crowd got what they wanted! They wanted a podium finish for the 'Tifosi'. Michael Schumacher ensured that happened --taking the first place in his Marenello leading from start to finish!
But it wasnt easy this time with World Champion Fernando Alsono putting in a very brave challenge all through the race (even though he was using his old engine!) A minor mistake by Alonso towards the last few laps ensured that the Ferrari stayed a couple of seconds ahead of the Renault in a race where overtaking isnt easy!
It was a good race for both McLarens with both cars finishing -- 3rd for Montoya and 5th for the Kimi Raikkoneon.
Fillepe Massa the second Ferrari finished 4th holding off the Iceman.
European Grand Prix Up Next!

Deja vu

Exactly the same as last years Imola race, only the roles were reversed
Enjoyable race .. but there are so few accidents this season
whats wrong with the drivers, where is all the mangled metal, failed brakes and blown tyres

Nurburgring GrandPrix:
Another solid performance by Ferrari and Schumi making it two on a row. But this time perhaps more convincingly!
This time strategy worked out well for Ferrari who had a much later pitstop than Renault.
As of now..
Alonso has 44 points to Schumacher's 31. McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen has 23. In the constructors' championship
Renault with 62 points but Ferrari leapfrogged McLaren into second place with 46.
Spanish GrandPrix this weekend!

May 15 2006, 11:25 AM
Spanish Grand Prix:
Fernando Alonso led from start to finish, to win the Spanish grand prix thus becoming the first Spainiard to win at home.
Michael Schumacher came second in his Ferrari followed by Fisichella in the other Renault.
Fillepe Massa in the other Ferrari came fourth followed by Kimi Raikkoneon in the McLaren.

Michael Schumacher was stripped off the Pole position for Monaco GrandPrix after the Race stewards came to the conclusion that he had stopped deliberately thereby deprieving Alonso and co. the pole position.
An error at the Rascasse hairpin: Schumi ran wide and stalled the engine in an attempt not to hit the barrier. (Schumi himself was on a flying lap!!)
Alsonso was abt 3/10ths of a second faster until he had to take extra care to avoid a possible clash and lost time due to the same.
Rival teams criticized Schumi and Ferrari's negative tactics, while Schumi's fans feel it was a genuine driving mistake at the tight and twisty circuit.
Neways, the decision makes both the Ferraris start at the end of the grid (since Massa crashed out in the 1st qualifying).
Hopefully, Schumi would demonstrate how to overtake on this curcuit!

Kimi could have eaisly been the winner, had it been not been the consistancy of the McLaren!!
A fantastic display by Schumi, I'd say!!
Theres no stopping Alonso, if not for Schumi!!

With the title race heated up with Ferrari and Schumi back to form, this season seems to be heading for a great finish. Alonso could still retain the championship by finishing second to M Schumacher in each race. Ferrari need to get Massa between Schumi and Alonso, if they dont have to rely on other teams to do the same.
The German Grand Prix qualifying seemed to work out in some favour to the Ferrari. Kimi Raikkoneon (The Iceman) pipped Schumi for the pole. Massa finished third. Renault kind of had an off day today as their top driver, Alonso, could manage only seventh.
1 K Raikkonen (McLaren)
2 M Schumacher (Ferrari)
3 F Massa (Ferrari)
4 J Button (Honda)
5 G Fisichella(Renault)
6 R Barrichello (Honda)
7 F Alonso (Renault)
8 R Schumacher (Toyota)
Dont wanna miss the battle of speed and strategy tomorrow!

Michael Schumacher won the German Grand Prix making it three wins in a row and thereby cut Alonso's 17 point lead to 11. This victory does breathe more life to the Championship race after Alonso lead the first half of the season.
Fillepe Massa ensured a 1-2 for Ferrari after sticking to the tailend of Schumi's car.
Kimi Raikkoneon, who won the pole, lost his place after the first of the pitstop and managed the final podium position.
Jenson button finished fourth ahead of Renaults : Alonso and Fisichella. Trulli finished 7th, Christian Klien completed the top eight.

Hungary Grand Prix:
Michael Schumacher had a chance to finish the race and cut down more points over Championship Leader Fernando Alonso, as Alonso had retired from the race.
But a car failure just two laps from finish, ensured that the race leader board for them remained unaffected.
Meanwhile, Jenson Button in his BAR-Honda cruised home for his first ever Grand Prix victory. Pedro de la Rosa finished second in his McLaren. Nick Heidfield came home third in his BMW.
1. Jenson Button Honda
2. Pedro de la Rosa McLaren - Mercedes
3. Nick Heidfeld BMW Sauber
4. Rubens Barrichello Honda
5. David Coulthard Red Bull - Ferrari
6. Ralf Schumacher Toyota
7. Robert Kubica BMW Sauber

Chinese Grand Prix:
Formula One fans at China and world over witnessed yet another piece of Michael Magic today. Michael Schumacher who started 6th on the grid drove superbly in the middle stages of the race and with a lil help from Renault's pit crew managed yet another comfortable win.
Alonso finished second after blowing away good chances at both pitstops.
So Schumi and Alonso are level on points with Schumi at the top by virtue of having more wins this season!
With two races to go, things cant get any better!

Japnese GrandPrix:
Renault's Fernando Alonso is now on the verge of retaining his world drivers' title after winning the Japanese Grand Prix as Michael Schumacher retired.
Schumi suffered a rare engine failure as he was in the lead of an intense battle with Alonso, still leading by good five odd seconds.
So, Alonso will take the championship in Brazil in two weeks time unless Schumi wins and Alonso does not score points.

Brazil GP:
Fillepe Massa won the Brazilian GrandPrix in style. Fernando Alonso retained the World Championship title after finishing second. Jensn Button finished third in his Honda.
But Michael Schumacher produced yet another superb performance to sign off in style and to finish fourth after a punctured tyre pushed him back to 20th.
Renault retained the constructors' championship they won last year.
