Kingston, Mar 21: If media reports in Pakistan are to be believed, Bob Woolmer, the national cricket team's coach, may have been murdered.

Jamaican Police are suspecting that the former Test cricketer may have been poisoned and strangulated.

Woolmer, 58, was found unconscious in his hotel room in Kingston on Sunday, a day after Pakistan team was defeated by Ireland in the World Cup.

Jamaican Police have said that they would not like to speculate but said the circumstances in which Woolmer died were 'suspicious'.

Earlier, an autopsy report was termed 'inconclusive'.

"But having met with the pathologists, our medical personnel and investigators, there is now sufficient information to continue a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Woolmer, which we are now treating as suspicious," said Deputy Commissioner of Police Mark Shields, at a press conference here today.

Shields said he would be able comment on the issue only after getting a full official report from pathologists and toxicologists.

Police said that fingerprints of various people have been discovered in Woolmer's room, and they have already questioned the physio and the trainer of the Pakistani team.

Pakistan's Geo TV reported this morning that Woolmer was murdered by poisoning, and this has left Pakistan Cricket Board flummoxed.

Talat Ali, the Pakistan team manager, told Geo TV that they had not been given full details by the police. "They have not made any reference to poisoning or anything yet, as some reports are suggesting," Ali said. "There is no information at all that this poison could be involved. Investigations will carry on. So, we cannot come to any conclusions right now."

Ali also refuted reports that the Pakistan team has been asked not to leave the country.

"There are no police restrictions on the team. As planned for now, we are flying back on Saturday," he added.

At a news conference in Kingston, team officials asked reporters not to "try and spread rumours".

Meanwhile, the Pakistan team's spokesperson Pervez Mir said, "We are accepting whatever the police are saying. They say it is a suspicious death and investigations are on. But suspicions do not always mean that it is something negative."

Pakistan plays Zimbabwe on Thursday in its last World Cup match.

No such thing has been reported on Geo..I had been watching Geo since morning.
What I heard was that the Indian media is showing that Bob has been murdered. (and I mean no offence, this is what my cousins told me..she lives in Canada, and she gets Indian news channels).
