Radhika and Vinay have already completed scripting the film and have planned to start filming this year. "This film is set in New York and Seattle in U.S.A. We want to capture the winter in U.S.A. this time around [LUCKY was filmed during the winter in Russia]," he elaborates.

* SRK forgives for his wife's insult!
The rift between Shah Rukh Khan and Pritish Nandy Communications, which arose after Gauri Khan and Karan Johar were reportedly denied entry to a private screening of SHABD, is said to be over with Pritish Nandy thrashing out the differences at a lunch meeting held at the latter's residence.
Following the meeting, Shah Rukh decided to forgive and forget the episode, thereby endorsing PNC's participation in the Sansui awards, instituted by Pritish Nandy six years ago.
It may be recalled that an upset Shah Rukh was said to have recently told the award organizers, that he was against the idea of associating with anything that had to do with the name of PNC.
However, knowing that Shah Rukh was a brand ambassador for Sansui, its Chairman, Venugopal Dhoot, could not think of the event being held without the superstar's presence. Dhoot who wanted an early solution to the problem, reportedly tried to convince Nandy to keep a low profile about the forthcoming awards function.
Instead, Nandy decided to resolve the problem by directly meeting Shah Rukh at his residence and shaking hands with him.
Sansui and PNC will now be working together for the event to be held in London on May 29, where Shah Rukh has agreed to perform.

* Interview : Priyanka Chopra a successful female on top
She is young, successful and snaking her way up the numbers ladder with firm steps. She is being signed by the biggies of Bollywood and has quite some films tucked for herself. And this gives her the way to the top superseding her competitors. After giving 3 hits in the period of 2 years, she has carved a niche for herself. The recent awards for her roles and performances have also given her a position she can hold onto. Lets hear from this damsel on her forthcoming release ‘Waqt’ and about the way her career is shaping up.
Excerpts from an Interview:
It’s definite that you didn’t want to be in films from the first instance!
Yes the decision came only after I won the Miss World title. The only other glamour industry I could turn to was films. Otherwise I aspired to be an engineer.
You’ve a firm position in the industry right at this moment. How does it feel?
It really feels great. When people like your films and your performance you get encouraged. I’ve earned and established for myself fame and recognition within a very short span. But that doesn’t dominate me. I’ve lots more to do. I’ve not been here for long and so I’ve to prove myself in the long run before anything else.
How do you manage your roles in the films?
The roles that I do differ from each other. I played a negative role which was challenging because you’re not so in real life. Again to play real character is difficult too for their you’ve to appear as real as possible. So there is a challenge in every role. But I enjoy that.
You’ve turned from a hot bod to an actress. Is the change conscious?
Both of them are different. Doing the same thing repeatedly sounds stereotyped. When I can do roles and perform them with ease, then why not! So I want to do variety of roles that gives me a chance to perform.
Tell us something about your character in you forthcoming film Waqt?
In Waqt I play an Indian girl. I’m simple but a daughter of a rich father. So I’m a spoilt brat and a naïve. I get every possible luxury from my childhood. But there comes a turning point in my life where I have to deal with problems I never knew existed and understand how difficult things can be.
It was an opportunity to work with actors like Amitabh, Boman and Shefali?
Definitely. I loved working with the cast and the crew. They’re very senior artiste and you get to learn from them so much. I play the daughter of Boman and daughter-in-law of Amitji and Shefali in the film.
What’s your favourite song from the soundtrack of the film?
My favourite is Toot Gaya. But I also like Apne Jahaan Se and Chup Ja Chup Ja.
You got electrocuted while shooting?
(Laughs) This is really a dramatic story. During the shooting for the Holi song this incident happened. I got stuck to my van and got unconscious. I was given medical aid.
What’s your take on director Vipul?
Vipul is an emotional person and so has dealt with the emotion of the film very sensibly. He is a wonderful person and is very easy to work with. As a director he couldn’t have been much more complacent.
Which kinds of films are your favourite?
I prefer sweet films above anything else.

Nikhil Advani has quit Dharma Production though he began his career as an assistant with this banner owned by Karan Johar. Nikhil learnt a lot from Karan and practiced them in 'Kuchh Kuchh Hota Hai' and 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum'. Later, Nikhil directed "Kal Ho Na Ho' and earned laurels in the industry. However, Karan gave his next to another assistant, ignoring Nikhil's desire to direct it too. So, Nikhil said goodbye to his mentor. The behavior of Nikhil upset Karan so much that he asked his friends not to join hands with Nikhil. Preity Zinta, however, proved an exception and agreed to do Nikhil Advani's next.

Chopra adds that Rekha has already got the National Award for the Best Performance. Why should she remain behind in getting one for an item girl too? Besides, Rekha says that she took no time in agreeing to Chopra's proposal to give an item dance in 'Parneeta'. This is to recall that 'Parineeta' has been made twice in the past also. For the first time, legendary figures like Ashok Kumar and Meena Kumari acted in it. Later, Jitendra and Sulakshana Pandit played the lead roles. * Interview:- "Rani Mukerji"
# I would love to go to Pakistan: Rani Mukerji
Q: How was the dinner with President Musharraf at Rashtrapati Bhawan?
A: It was like a dream come true! The last two days, I’ve had the most wonderful time. Rashtrapati Bhawan is so beautiful. To just be part of such an event made me feel that I’ve done something to achieve this. When I was invited to Pakistan, I was overjoyed.
I’m really looking forward to going there. Let’s see where the invitation comes from. Maybe it will come directly from the Begum (President Musharraf’s wife). They actually want Latabai (Lata Mangeshkar) and me to come to Pakistan.
Q: That’s quite an honour.
A: I was the only one from the film industry present at the dinner. I guess my character in Veer-Zaara has made a tremendous impact across the border. I felt honoured to be part of the guest list. Our foreign minister, Mr Natwar Singh, introduced me to everybody.
When he introduced me to his counterpart from across the border, Mr Singh insisted that I be invited to Pakistan. They said they’d love to have me. President Musharraf said I’m very popular in Pakistan. The way they spoke and the kind of people they seem to be, I feel peace is around the corner. I hope the dinner made some kind of difference.
Q: So are you going to Pakistan?
A: I’d love to go. The leaders from both sides of the border are so down to earth. They make the peace problem seem so solvable.
And I really think highly of our prime minister. Manmohan Singhji struck me as a wonderful diplomat and a perfect host. I felt so proud to represent the film industry for such an important occasion.
Q: What do you think of getting all the best actress and best supporting actress awards for 2004?
A: It’s quite an honour! I can understand people who question me getting both the awards. My only defense is that I’ve worked very hard to get where I am. Nothing came easily to me.
And if I was found to be good for two awards, it doesn’t mean I should be given just one to make the awards look more democratic. I don’t think I can repeat this feat again. Next year, I don’t think it will happen.
Q: Now you’ve got Bunty Aur Babli coming up.
A: Bunty Aur Babli was a ball. After Saathiya, I was working again with Yashraj films and Shaad Ali. The masti that you’ll see is one side of me that hasn’t come across on screen before. Shaad knows me too well. He could get the madness out of me.
Abhishek, Amit uncle and I had a blast. The film is quite mad. I’ve never planned anything in my career. It’s great to have Bunty Aur Babli. Then The Rising will come next and Paheli.
Q: You’re a favourite with both the Bachchans.
A: That’s great. I love Amit uncle. By chance, most of my new films have him as well. He is working with me in Bunty Aur Babli and Paheli. Then there’s Ravi Chopra’s Babul coming up too.
And Karan Johar’s film will also have the two of us. So I’ll be working with Amit uncle the entire year. What more can I hope for? I always enjoy working with like-minded people. Like I’m immensely happy working with Shah Rukh and Abhishek. Work has become a picnic.
Q: You’re the undisputed No 1 today.
A: I don’t want to think about that. For me, coming home after work to my down-to-earth family is very important. Everything I have is temporary.
Tomorrow, when it’s all gone and I’m married, I need to be that simple Bengali girl — the one that I am at heart. I can’t live in a bubble. Mom still screams at me. I’m never allowed to behave like a star.

* Now see Aishwarya in a new Avatar!
Years after "Damini", director Raj Kumar Santoshi is planning another soul-searching social film called "Samna" with Ajay Devgan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai and Nana Patekar.
With contemporary politics as the backdrop, the film deals with how people are exploited in the name of caste and religion.
" 'Saamna' is a subject very close to my heart. Like my other film 'Damini', this one addresses the lack of moral courage in contemporary society," tells Santoshi , describing the film as a "hard-hitting, intense, soul-searching exercise with a social conscience".
"Unlike 'Damini', where the female protagonist took the lead, all the four main characters are critical to 'Saamna'," revealed the director, who can boast of path-breaking films like "Ghayal", "Damini", "Ghatak" and "Lajja".
"I've worked with Ash, Ajay and Akshay before. But I'm working with Nana for the first time. I'm looking forward to working with him."
For some time now, Raj Santoshi had been planning a historical Prithviraj-Sanjukta film with Ajay and Aishwarya, but that will have to wait. "The finances for a historical are daunting," he confesses.
For now, "Saamna", a story of downtown Mumbai that deals with a man's courage to change society, to be produced by his friend and first-time producer Abdul Sami Siddiqui, promises to lead Santoshi back to his roots.
"I had the theme with me for a long time. But I wasn't getting the right actors and backdrop," Santoshi said.
The film will start shooting once Santoshi finishes with "Family" starring Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.
"I'll start 'Saamna' only after 'Family' is over. I'm pleased with 'Family'. Though it's far less hard-hitting than 'Saamna', it's very different kind of film."
About leading lady Aishwarya, who had earlier done a negative role for him in "Khakee": "Not too many people know that until more than half of 'Khakee' was shot, Aishwarya didn't know she was going to turn out to be a negative character at the end.
"She'll definitely have more to do in my new film. I share both a personal and professional rapport with her."

"I was never in competition with SRK. It would be detrimental to my psyche if I started believing his rival. I find it uncomfortable to even answer the question because - even to consider me a competitor to him is ridiculous.
It's like being pitted against Amitabh Bachchan. If you add on a few more years to the gap between SRK and me I would be considered competition to Amitabh. It's totally crazy. I wouldn't even call Shah Rukh a friend because I respect him for more than that I look up to him," said Hrithik.

* Kajol's dates were never an issue

Kunal Kohli is amused! Reason: A section of the press has gone on record to state that Kajol has 'finally' allotted dates to Yashraj's Kunal Kohli-directed project, starring Aamir Khan in the lead. "Kajol was never dilly-dallying in the first place. At the very outset, we'd decided to start filming in August since I want to depict various seasons in my film. Aamir, Kajol, everyone had committed themselves from August onwards," Kunal enlightens.
The director of HUM TUM plans to shoot a substantial portion of the film in Kashmir. "But I'll need to check with the actors first. If they are comfortable with the idea, we'll shoot there. There's Manali too we're looking at," Kunal adds. While on Manali, Kunal met with an accident while riding a horse last week. Luckily, he jumped off at the right time, "else I'd be talking to you from the hospital bed," he chuckles.
Kunal also rubbishes rumours that he has decided to float his production house once he completes filming his third film for Yashraj. "That's completely untrue," Kunal clarifies, "I am extremely comfortable with Yashraj. [jokes] You don't indulge in an extra-marital affair if you're happy with your spouse."

* When Salman Khan turned into a cook!
By IndiaFM News Bureau, April 23rd, 2005 - 1430 hrs IST
"You have seen him as a lover lad, a tragic hero,
the funny man and the action hunk
Now watch the shirtless wonder become a cook!"
The director duo of Lucky, Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru recently told us of an amusing incident about the bare-chested Khan of Bollywood. “It was the last leg of the shoot for Lucky and we were shooting at an ancient amphitheatre in St.Petersberg, Moscow” Radhika recollects. “The period for which we had booked the place had expired and we had to vacate the premises soon. So we were to shoot around a 24-hour schedule, from 7-to-7” she says remembering the gruelling schedule. “After calling it a wrap, we return to the hotel at 7 in the morning, all tired, hungry, & groggy. I went to the pantry to check whether I would grab something to eat and what do I see…?
“I see Salman cooking!” she says bringing on an amused expression. “As I sauntered into the room, he had his back to me. I got beside him, he saw me and asked, “You must be hungry…” “I am starving!” I replied. To which he said, “You go and rest, I'll get something for you guys” he said and got busy with his pots and pans. “Okay” I said and left. I thought to myself that he at best would arrange for some milk and bread. Crutching my empty tummy, I went to my room and crashed. Just as I was falling to sleep, the phone rang and Vinay and I were called for breakfast. I got to the dining table in the main hall and seated myself. And man, was it a sight or what…!
“He serves us eggs!” Eggs? we ask, “Yes and he added caviar to it! It was so yuck!” she says cringing her nose. 'Caviar in eggs! 'That must have been the most intoxicating breakfast you have had!' we laugh, “You bet!” Radhika smiles. So did they bother telling him that the food tasted like evil…”Not really. Just like us, he had been shooting too, yet he puts in that extra effort & cooks for us. We didn't have the heart to tell him that that it wasn't tasting all that good” she says good naturedly and adds “But that was the best breakfast we ever had! How often do you get the superstar of India to fix you a breakfast at 7!” 'Not very often' we agree.

* Ajay, John, Vivek, Lara and Esha: Brave hearts!
INDIATIMES MOVIES
If a comedy requires a good sense of comic timing, then horror films require some starch in the nerves. And if our Bollywood hotties didn't have that, believe us, they wouldn't have survived what we're about to tell you. Ajay Devgan, Vivek Oberoi, John Abraham, Esha Deol and Lara Dutta were shooting in the jungles of Bangkok for 'Kaal'. And we all know that's there are more than just 'human' stars in this film; there are ferocious tigers, too, flown in from the US.
On one totally terrifying moment during shooting, one of the tigresses, ambling around, jumped into the 14-foot high elephant grass, and disappeared – and frankly, that's actually one of the tactics a tiger uses to hunt prey. For a long time, this cat was well hidden in the high grass, as the trainers paced frantically, telling everyone not to move or run; while they tried to spot the animal.
Needless to say, in spite of the tiger being tame, there was panic in the crew; everyone was twitching anxiously, waiting for the beast to reappear; while the stars stayed rooted. And once the striped cat was spotted, everyone breathed a collective growl of relief, our own big-cat stars included. Quite a brave bunch, aren't they!

"Shah Rukh Khan is my hero. I've grown up on his films and performances. I react to him as any young girl does. I'm his biggest fan and have no qualms in buying his movie tickets at Fame Adlabs personally," that's what Kareena Kapoor said about Shah Rukh Khan, who recently turned 40.
Kareena thinks SRK is the sexiest 40-year-old, she knows.
"To me, SRK is the perfect man. I often pray to God that if I have a son, I want him to be like SRK in every way. I really dig his dimples and would really love it if my son had dimples like him," said Kareena.
* No tie-up with SRK!
by Debasis Jana
There was a buzz that Zee had signed up Shah Rukh Khan as their new brand ambassador. And the buzz got a momentum after SRK unveiled new logo at the recent Zee Cine Awards in London. Even the industry grapevine kept insisting that Zee pays a hopping amount of 75 crore to SRK for lending his name.
However, Zee denied any tie-up with SRK. They said that Bollywood Bad shah unveiled the logo because he was performing at the awards and because of his close relationship with the Zee network.

* Vivek: Jaan bachi lakhon paaye
If reports are to be believed Salman Khan is still very angry with Vivek Oberoi. For those who don't know jog your memories to 2003 when Vivek had announced a press conference at a short notice where he told the media how Salman Khan had 48 calls threatening him and asking him to give up having an affair with his ex-girlfriend Aishwayra Rai. It seems Salman Khan is angry about that incident and has not forgiven Vivek for it. At the recent award function held in the UK when Vivek and Ash learnt that Salman Khan was present at the dinner hosted by the authorities they ran back to their room avoiding the party. Earlier too Vivek has had to make attempts to avoid meeting Salman face to face. When asked about this Vivek just said that he was too dignified to comment on it.

* Interview: - Urmila Matondkar
'Naina is much deeper than just a supernatural thriller' – Urmila Matondkar
By Vickey Lalwani ©2005 Bollyvista.com
Meet Urmila Matondkar, the actress who is one of the few who have evolved in Hindi cinema. Her next release is debutant director Shripal Morakhia's 'Naina'. Excerpts from an interview by Vickey Lalwani:
Q. Begin with your next release 'Naina'.
The story is a tale of a young girl who loses eyesight at the age of five. This coincides with the loss of her parents, all on the day of a solar eclipse in London. 20 years later, a cornea implant helps her regain vision. However, the girl now begins to see some very unhappy dead souls. Instead of life becoming beautiful, it becomes a nightmare for her.
Q. Is 'Naina' a supernatural thriller that will scare?
At first sight, it is. But if you see it, you will realize that it is much deeper than just that.
Q. Is 'Naina' similar to 'The Eye'?
Honestly, I have no clue. I have not seen 'The Eye'. So I can't take a call. From all the movies I have seen in my life, 'Naina' does not come close to any of them in content and style.
Q. You are doing Anupam Kher's 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara'. What's your role in that?I have been told not to speak on that one. Please let it be kept as a secret. Q.Other projects apart from 'MGKNM'?I am doing one more film- Pankaj Parasher's 'Banares' with Raj Babbar, Dimple Kapadia and Ashmit Patel. Plus there are some others at the discussion stage, which would be premature to mention at this point of time. Q. Are you still game to do the usual glamorous roles? Why not? Q. Or is there a conscious effort to do more meaningful stuff?I simply want to do better films. I have been lucky to be offered films like 'Ek Haseena Thi', 'Bhoot', 'Pinjar', and ‘Deewangee’ where I had the scope to showcase my talent. I want to do sensible films. That's it.
Q. Do you look at films only as an artistic pursuit or do you worry about the commercial prospects to?For me films have always been an artistic pursuit. Money is extremely important to me but I’ll never accept anything that I’ll hate doing, just for the greed of money (pauses). Q. Go on...I feel it’s time artistes started looking at films as a whole and not just their roles, because filmmakers are already moving away from the regular stereotypes. Q. Are you going to work with Ram Gopal Varma again? Think of it, ever since you walked out of his camp, his films haven't done well. That may be a coincidence. And let me tell you, I haven't walked out of his camp. Ramu is a great filmmaker.
Q. Disappointed that you did not receive the Best Actress Award for 'Ek Haseena Thi'?
Not really. I have had my moments under the sun as far as awards are concerned.
Q. We hear lots of rumours that there is a jewelry designer male in your life. Comment.
I wish to keep my personal life private. I do not wish to answer this question.
Q. Marriage plans?
I feel when it has to happen it will. It can happen tomorrow or not for another few years. I don’t think these things can be planned. Moreover, I don’t think too much into the future. The press has married me off so many times, that when it really happens I fear my friends won’t turn up.
Q. So it’s going to be acting and films all the way for you?
(Laughs) Honestly, it’s the only thing I do fairly well. I would be miserable as a businesswoman and I would be a wreck in any other kind of 9 to 5 job.

* PAK GIRL AS MUMTAZ IN HER DEBUT 'TAJ MAHAL'
By Naresh Kumar
Very soon the viewers will find a new face though a Pakistani in Akbar Khan's historic movie 'Taj Mahal'. Akbar Khan has discovered this girl to play emperor Shahjehan's ladylove Mumtaz for whom the emperor built one of the Seven Wonders of the World called 'Taj Mahal'. This girl is Sonya. She is half French and half Pakistani. Akbar Khan made a special endeavor to sign this girl who is granddaughter of yesteryears' actress and millions' heartthrob Noorjehan of the pre-partition of India.
Sonya claims to be well versed with Bollywood though she doesn't like some of its directors allegedly involved in casting couch. This has distanced her from entering the Indian movie industry in a big way. She recalls that producer Akbar approached her for 'Taj Mahal' when she was studying in England.
She sought six months' time to complete her studies even though she had cleared the first audition test. Akbar Khan was too eager and therefore waited for her.She has been watching Hindi movies and admires them and so also the artists. However, she wonders why Indian girls who are very pretty and yet dress themselves in western clothes. She harbors regret that Bollywood has too much of sex in movies.
However, she dared play Mumtaz as it's a historical character. She has got some offers for Hindi movies though, but has declined them so far. When asked if it meant that she would act in very few Indian movies, she quipped, "No, it's not so. However, I cannot do bold scenes for which there is a big demand in Bollywood. So, I shall sign movies only after a careful study. I have heard about casting couch. I have also heard about something not very pleasant about the directors. Thus, I was worried initially. " However, she is very much satisfied now. "I find that my arrival in India has been a blessing for me."

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, who has been creating waves in the West, is all set to sizzle at the Cannes International Film Festival beginning May 11 for the fourth consecutive time.
Aishwarya will be at the Cannes as brand ambassador of O'Loreal and Coke and this time she will take along her fan "Lucky Ramu" - Pramod Chaudhary from Pune - chosen through a lucky draw from among 100 winners of the "Thanda Aish Cash" contest.

"Curious minds got an opportunity to discover their favourite actress in real life and come face to face with her. In a way, I too will be sharing a day of my life with my fan-the winner of the lucky draw contest. It will be interesting to know his reaction to the new experience."
Replying to questions on her special wardrobe for the festival, Aishwarya said she had not yet thought about it.
Ash said the Time magazine dinner party was a humbling experience. "I had just returned home after completing shooting of 'Mistress of spices' and was wondering whether I should fly back or not. Thankfully, I did and got a wonderful opportunity to interact with different kinds of people."
Ash has been the only Indian actor to be invited to the Cannes festival. She attended it for the first time for screening of "Devdas," as a member of the jury in the second year and last year to represent O'Loreal and now this year again to represent O'Loreal.

Recently we were in the receiving end, after reminding him about the hard relationship between Aamisha and Kareena, with a question "does it matter to him"? Shahid said, "Hey, I never thought of it like that! Thanks for reminding me! * Priyanka Chopra - Rock star!
The gorgeous Chopra girl is going places these days. She not has only leading banners clamouring for her attention, but also meaty roles with leading actors. And though Priyanka lost out on Sajid Nadiadwala's next, 'Jaaneman', to Preity Zinta, she managed to exchange places with the dimpled actress in Rakesh Roshan's 'Krrish', opposite Hrithik. We hear that she is playing the role of a journalist in the film and it required her to do some serious rock climbing - is that what journos do these days? We hear that the actress, along with Hrithik, was trained by professional climbers to do the real thing in a sequence in the movie. The buzz is that Priyanka picked up the ropes very fast. Now that's what we call a 'rock star'!
* Abhishek v/s Amitabh!
While Abhishek Bachchan must be quite excited about yet another desi role in 'Bunty Aur Babli' (remember, he excelled in 'Yuva'?), it is Dad Amitabh who is sceptical about how the audience will perceive his role. Apparently the senior Bachchan plays a spoilsport cop who hunts the con couple Bunty and Babli (played by Rani) throughout the film. And when we asked Amitabh whether his was a negative role, he replied, "You've raised a very pertinent point. I hope that people feel that way, because even though Abhishek and Rani are doing negative things, it would be so good if people loved them for what they are doing. And if they do that, I will be looked at as somebody who is notoriously bad and spoiling all their fun." Who would you prefer? Abhishek or Amitabh? Let us know, won't you?

* Yashraj's new project
By Taran Adarsh, April 26th 2005 - 0930 hrs IST
Remember Arjun Sablok, who was launched as an actor by Yash Chopra in VIJAY? Later, Arjun enacted the role of SRK's friend in DILWALE DULHANIYA LE JAYENGE, besides assisting Aditya Chopra on the project. Subsequently, Arjun directed his first feature film, NA TUM JAANO NA HUM, with Hrithik, Saif and Esha in the lead. Much later, he shot the video of DHOOM with Tata Young.
Well, Arjun is now directing his second feature film, which will be produced by Yashraj Films and star Uday Chopra and Tanisha in the lead. "It's a love story," Arjun informs me, "The film will be shot in British Columbia in Canada this summer."
There has been a substantial gap between NA TUM JAANO NA HUM and his new project [it's not titled yet]. Any particular reason? "I was waiting for something to excite me. It took a while to get hold of the right script. Besides, you need to have that perfect support system and in Yashraj Films, I've found the ideal backers," he states.
Meanwhile, Arjun has signed the immensely talented Salim-Sulaiman to score the music of the film. "We're in the process of recording the songs," he adds.
* Rajpal Yadav on item numbers, Ash & more…
By IndiaFM News Bureau, April 26th, 2005 - 0930 hrs IST
The Coke commercial starring Rajpal Yadav, most would agree was the cutest thing on television sometime back. “It was great” Rajpal agrees. “Actually this was the first time I was working with Aishwarya Rai, everybody co-operated so much I did not feel for once that I am working with a superstar. Since I have not done too many ads I got to learn a lot from this one” he tells us. Must confess, his shudh Hindi is an absolute treat to hear.
We now talk about the item number that caused a supposed fallout between the maker and the muse, “Like I told you I believe in experimenting, Ramuji is one person who has given me all the opportunities to do that. He has made me a villain, a comedian, a lead hero, and now an item boy. I was shocked when he offered me this song, but then I felt that if he has so much faith in me then I should give it a try” he explains. He even went blond for the song, so how does it feel after all that sweat, the song is dropped from the film? “See, I have tremendous faith in him as a director. If he has dropped the song, I am sure that too would be for the betterment of the film. No grudges at all” he comes clean.
And finally, the industry is still buzzing with talk that Rajpal has grown too big for his boots and that is the reason that he refused Rakesh Roshan's Krrish. How does he react to such snides “Rakeshji is one of the most important and respected filmmaker of our industry. Length of the role doesn't matter to me; just that I did not like the character much, there has to be definite character to the role I perform. I had only one scene in Kal Ho Na Ho but I did that because I liked it. There is nothing more to it; in future I would definitely like to work with him whenever I get a chance” he replies. And you know that this shortie is here to set some tall records.

* Aishwarya Rai:'I am surprised at my life’s turn of events'.
AFSANA AHMED
TIMES NEWS NETWORK
Actor Aishwarya Rai speaks to BT on her look-alike Sneha Ullal and her power evening in New York
‘Time will tell all’ is Aishwarya Rai’s mantra these days. “I am surprised at my life’s turn of events,” says Ash, who has just returned to Mumbai after her big dinner with the hundred most influential people in New York, where she made a grand red carpet entry with Hollywood’s movie moghul, Harvey Weinstein. “Six of us were asked to raise the toast for the evening. And I raised it for my parents and for my fans, without whom I wouldn’t have reached where I am today,”she says. Actors Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn, who were at the event, were also quite taken by Ash that night. “Kidman had to rush out for some premiere, but she said that she and her son loved Bride and Prejudice and I told her how I loved all her performances. Sean Penn told me that I spoke well and I told him that I’ve always been his fan!”
On meeting Harvey Weinstein, however, Ash says, “He is a big fan of Indian films. He has seen Devdas, and said he respected my work. It’s a big compliment coming from somebody who has such an immense body of work and yet is so humble.” So, did she get any offers from him? “He discussed a few ideas and scripts with me. He is starting his own company. We are discussing projects. Time will tell all,” says the actor.
However, she adds, “I have never deliberately driven attention to the fact that I am working in Hollywood films. I have categorically stated that I am working in different kinds of films, be it British, Hindi, Tamil or Bengali. It’s all about doing films, which are my passion.”
New on Ash’s front is her next film with director Jug Mundhra titled Provoked, based on a book called Circle of Light, which is based on a real life story. “It revolves around a girl who is responsible for bringing about a change in the law for abused women in the US.” Back home she is all set for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Saamna, and Sanjay Ghadvi’s Dhoom 2.
Talk veers toward the obvious, her look-alike Sneha Ullal. Ash says she hasn’t seen the film, but from the promos, feels that the music is wonderful. “I wish her all the very best, God bless her and may she have a great future ahead,” she says. On probing a little further, she reveals, “I was out of town when the promos started. Some said there was a resemblance, others disagreed. Few others felt that we only share light eyes and fair skin. Some say the shot had been taken in a certain angle and the styling has been done similarly. I am not a part of all this and I wouldn’t like to be roped in. It’s all about people’s perceptions. There have been comparisons since my modelling days. It’s nothing new,” she concludes.

Interview # 7
This Interview is from “www.santabanta.com”
* Interview: “Karan Johar”
"Malaika is the sexiest woman: Karan Johar"
Karan Johar promises that Shah Rukh Khan's item number in "Kaal" will show that the actor can be a "stud if he wants to be".
The "Kaal dhamaal" song in "Kaal" will have Shah Rukh Khan flaunting his muscles, says Karan, the film's producer.
Johar says the idea of Shah Rukh doing the number occurred to him after he had gone through the list of item girls.
"I suddenly thought of Shah Rukh Khan as the item boy. I thought, why not? Shah Rukh is the producer and my friend and brother," Johar tells London. "Shah Rukh is the best producer and item boy one can find."
Though the film was originally planned as a songless thriller, songs have been added but they "occur in the background", says Johar.
For the film, which releases Friday, Johar says he has acquired the music rights of the international hit "Eye Of The Tiger".
"Sony Music negotiated for the rights of 'Eye Of The Tiger'. Then my composers Salim-Sulaiman got to work on it, turning it into a Sufi statement," said Johar.
Excerpts from the interview:
Q: How did Shah Rukh Khan agree to enact the song for the credit titles?
A: He's the co-producer of "Kaal". I decided to begin the film with a song and thought of several heroines, in a very Ram Gopal Varma way. After all I've great regard for Varma and "Kaal" is definitely derivative of his school of filmmaking.
If "Kaal" does well, then I say 'Well done, Ramu. Thank you.' Anyway after going through a list of item girls I suddenly thought of Shah Rukh Khan as the item boy. I thought, why not? Shah Rukh is the producer and my friend and brother. We've an equation where I can take his presence for granted. I asked him and he readily agreed.
Shah Rukh is the best producer and item boy one can find. Everyone knows when he cries the world cries with him, when he laughs the whole world laughs with him. The one thing that Shah Rukh hadn't done was to flaunt his muscles. When you see him in the "Kaal dhamaal" song you'll see he can be a stud if he wants to be.
Q: You brought Malaika Arora into the song with Shah Rukh to recreate the "Chaiyyan chaiyyan" magic?
A: Malaika is a dear friend. I love her. She's one of the sexiest women on the fashion scene. Virtually Mother 2005! When I brought her in "Kaal" I didn't think of "Chaiyyan chaiyyan". I just thought of her as the sexiest woman to accompany Shah Rukh on screen.
Q: Is your involvement with "Kaal" as keen as it was with "Kal Ho Na Ho"?
A: "Kaal" is Soham's baby through and through. Besides the two songs I haven't inflicted a single moment of my creative efforts on "Kaal". It's definitely a very original horror film, not borrowed from any Hollywood film. When I read Soham Shah's narrative I wondered where that came from!
I thought he had unlearnt everything from Ram Gopal Varma when he worked with me in "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham". I think I should put Ramu's name in the credits.
"Kaal" is a different experience for Hindi moviegoers. Though I'm sure we've all been scared in the movies before.
Q: "Kaal" was originally planned as a songless thriller?
A: Yes, but now we've the songs. It's a very strange song-less 'song-full' thriller. All the songs occur in the background. The two main songs "Kaal dhamaal" and "Tauba tauba" will come at the beginning and end respectively.
The music won't hamper the narrative. Music is an integral part of all our productions. It's also an important marketing tool and builds up a curiosity for the film. Really, there's no getting away from music. Earlier we had acquired the rights to the international hit "Pretty Woman" for "Kal Ho Na Ho". Now we acquired the right for another international hit "Eye Of The Tiger" for "Kaal".
Q: Aren't Indian producers notorious for taking what they want without permission?
A: That's not the way our company Dharma Productions functions. We don't do anything that's politically or legally incorrect. Sony Music negotiated for the rights of "Eye Of The Tiger". Then my composers Salim-Sulaiman got to work in it, turning it into a Sufi statement.
Q: How did you select these virtual newcomers to do the music for such a prestigious production?
A: I was very impressed by their contribution to "Ab Tak Chappan" and "Dhoom". When I met them they gave me the tune for what finally went into "Kaal" as "Tauba tauba". I felt if they had this in them then I want to hear much more. They've a great sense of melody and rhythm.
Q: Are you sure you haven't contributed to "Kaal" beyond the songs? You had said the same about "Kal Ho Na Ho" which turned out to be a Karan Johar film right through.
A: It's over and done with. "Kaal" is completely Soham's film. You can check with the cast. No backseat driving. When you see this film you'd refuse to believe I produced it. "Kal Ho Na Ho" was entirely from my school of filmmaking. I was there for the complete 125 days of shooting. The director Nikhil Advani has moved on. I wish him all the best. And that's where it ends.
Q: And the ensemble cast in "Kaal"?
A: Every actor has a fair footage... I started casting with Vivek Oberoi and the process ended with Vivek again. He initially said no. Then Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapur were considered but they had date problems. Then Vivek returned, and fitted in wonderfully. Initially he was to do the role that Ajay Devgan did.

News # 53
This News is from “www.santabanta.com”
* Aishwarya Rai is no Amitabh!
America got a glimpse of two different faces of Bollywood as Amitabh Bachchan appeared on the highly respected Charlie Rose show on PBS and Aishwarya Rai chatted with Oprah Winfrey.
Rose, known for his substantial and often cerebral method of interviewing his guests, seemed quite struck by his guest's looks, voice and overall articulation. The show last week had the weight of two engaging men talking about this and that. Amitabh came across as thoughtful and quietly self-assured.
Aishwarya, on the other hand, was full of affectations, contrived sophistication, near fake earnestness and well-rehearsed intonation in the show Tuesday.
In keeping with her trademark style, she giggled first and spoke later as Winfrey asked her all the standard questions about kissing in public, sex, arranged marriage and so on.
There was one unusually perceptive question that Winfrey asked and Aishwarya did not quite answer adequately. That was about the preference for fair skin in India.
Fair skin treatment is a huge business in India, Winfrey informed the audience and asked Aishwarya to explain. The actress generally agreed that fair skin was a preferred tone but then did not go much beyond saying that India had all types of looks. To expect her to hold forth on what nearly 200 years of subjugation by a white colonial power can do to the psychology of an impoverished nation was too much to expect.
Winfrey asked her if she recognised that she was gorgeous. Aishwarya's response was a lesson in insincerity and beauty-pageant like. "To me, beautiful is as beautiful does. I think that's what speaks volumes. It isn't about the apparent gig. It's about what you do," she said.
She knew quite clearly that if she were an average looking woman doing the job of an office secretary she would not be asked that question, and, if she were, her response would not have been so politically correct. A simple yes would have done much more for her effectiveness.
As the US television media discovers the power of Indian films, it inevitably goes for obvious names. What could be more obvious than Amitabh and Aishwarya?
While after 35 years Amitabh has paid his dues and deserves the occasional attention he gets from the US media, Aishwarya's rise is somewhat dubious. It is mostly about marketing.
Her first introduction to the mainstream American audience through "Bride and Prejudice", Gurinder Chadha's puerile, 'Punjabified' interpretation of Jane Austen's novel "Pride and Prejudice", has done far less than expected.
In her earlier appearance on CBS News' "60 Minutes", Aishwarya struck many Americans as obviously very good-looking but devoid of depth.
But in so much as Amitabh and Aishwarya, separated by over three decades in age, are bringing an awareness to the West about India's entertainment industry, they are serving the same purpose.
Jane Kerrey, an office secretary working in Manhattan, New York, who saw the Oprah show summed it up well saying: "From (Mahatma) Gandhi's India it is now Rai's India for many in the West. Both Indias have a place."

* Preity Zinta is still in love with Ness!
Preity Zinta is currently shooting for the latest Yashraj production 'Salaam Namaste' with Saif Ali Khan in Australia and back home people have started paying obituaries to her romance with her boyfriend and business tycoon Ness Wadia.
But when the perky actress got to know the foul play going around she lashed out from the distant land by saying, "I wish I could give people a reason to gossip about me."
The pretty lady has been away from Mumbai for over a month now, and says she's terribly homesick.
"But you know what’s the saddest part of being away for so long? People get a chance to spread false rumours about you. The latest about me is that I've split from Ness Wadia."
Rubbishing the rumour, Preity chuckles, "I’m going to be shooting here for so long that I think I should just settle down in Australia. I’m homesick. I miss mom and Mumbai in that order."
"According to my horoscope, I’m destined to be globe-trotting for most of this year, just like it happened last year.”
After Melbourne, Preity moves to Sidney to shoot for Karan Johar’s film. “So it’s Australia all the way. I don’t think I’ll be back in India until October 2005."
Gung-ho about her new film, Zinta says, "Fortunately, Salaam Namaste is shaping up quite well. Siddharth knows his job well. Whether it was Farhan Akhtar in Dil Chahta Hai or Honey Irani in Armaan, I have always enjoyed working with new directors. They are so open to ideas. When I was shooting for Veer-Zaara with Yash uncle, I just let him guide me through the film. Making a film is far more interactive with a newcomer like Siddharth."
Going into a flashback, Preity says, "I still remember when Siddharth came to meet me in Goa and read the script of Salaam Namaste. He thought I’d say no because I have a reputation for being choosy.
But one has to be careful.
One wrong move, and you’re gone!"

* Ash on The Oprah Winfrey show!
Aishwarya Rai sure knows how to keep herself in the public eye. After featuring in Cannes, Madame Tussauds and David Letterman's Late Show, her next stop was The Oprah Winfrey show!
The actress is the first Indian actor to feature in this widely-watched television show.
She certainly seemed to have won over her hostess, as Oprah wore the sari that Ash had brought along. Oprah commented that the sari was very 'sensual.'
Excerpts from the show:
Oprah: I think you're gorgeous. When you look at yourself, do you see that?
Ash: To me, beautiful is as beautiful does. I think that's what speaks volumes.
Ash answered the often-asked question of her still staying with her parents, with: "Back home, you're a loser if you say, 'Mom, I'm out of here.' In India it's more about the family, about living together, about remaining connected, and that's probably the most beautiful special thing about it."
Oprah: We did a show recently where we were looking at women around the world, and we were talking to French women at a cafe. … They said (Americans) are all fat.
Ash: I'm from India, I wouldn't say that because Indian people, Indian people eat well, we're well endowed.
Oprah: Do they say we're rude?
Ash: No, Indian people are very hospitable.
Oprah: Do they say we talk too much?
Ash: Opinionated maybe.
Oprah: Do they say we get a lot of divorces?
Ash: Ah, that could be a discussion.
Oprah: You know what, you could be a diplomat!

* Aishwarya ready to sizzle in Cannes
By UNI
Apr 26, 2005, 10:47
Mumbai, April 26 (UNI): Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, who has been creating waves in the West, is all set to sizzle at the Cannes International Film Festival beginning May 11 for the fourth consecutive time.
Talking to reporters on the occasion, Ash, as she is popularly called, said the ad campaign was a unique concept for her to interact with her fans whose love and good wishes for her were always "real."
The "lucky Ramu," Pramod, said this was a dream come true for him. "I am thrilled and can't wait to see the reaction of my friends and family on my good fortune."

Interview # 8
This Interview is from “www.bollywoodworld.com”
* Interview : “Lara Dutta”
“I don't want to do skin thing any more: Lara Dutta”
That Lara Datta is a cerebral actor is pretty apparent.
"I'm watching and learning. I've become picky," the Miss Universe 2000 candidly told us in an interview. "Today trends are changing so fast. Suddenly the skin thing is no longer in," Lara maintained.
In fact, skin is out. "Today, I know how far I can go without being made to look vulgar on screen. I wouldn't wear a bikini. I don't want to do the skin thing any more," Lara asserted.
She also felt that intelligence can be a "disadvantage" in Bollywood.
"Sometimes you just need to turn the intelligence level off and kind of go with the flow," Lara said.
Admitting she was "ambitious", she also said she was a "different" person.
"I've never had anyone to guide me in Bollywood. I'm extremely self-willed," Lara maintained.
She admitted to some "disastrous" career decisions.
"'Insan' was a big mistake and I'm sorry for doing it. I stepped into it with my eyes wide open and still fell on my face," she said.
Excerpts from the interview:
Are you happy with the headway you've made in two years?
I feel I've just begun. I know I won't be given that many chances because I don't come from a filmy khandaan. I've a much shorter time to prove myself. Everyone wants to be on the top. So do I. But for me it's more for the love of acting. I'm learning on the job. I'm trying to figure out what kind of an actress I am. I never did any film thinking it would be a blockbuster. I just looked at how much of challenge each film would be as an actress.
"Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost" or "Bardasht", they taught me what I can and cannot do. Now I know what kind of cinema I want to do. If you look back, at the actresses of the past like Nutan, Sridevi or Madhuri, people just kept coming back to see their films. They had such a long shelf-life. Today trends are changing so fast. Everyone clamoured to see "Julie". But no one wanted to see "Sheesha". Suddenly the skin thing is no longer in. I'm watching and learning. I think my career starts this year. I've become picky. This year, I've signed only one film "Dosti" with Bobby Deol.
Dosti also has Kareena?
Yeah. She plays a more Indian character while I'm more Westernised. On the other hand, in "No Entry", I'm out and out Indian. A loud Punjabi wife like Tabu in "Biwi No.1". Then, in Soham Shah's "Kaal", I'm paired opposite Vivek (Oberoi). Actually, Ajay Devgan has the role in "Kaal" that people will talk about.
Were you happy about your last release "Jurm"?
After "Andaaz", it was my first full-length role where I'm not just there for effect. It wasn't easy for me to play Bobby Deol's wife. Director Vikram Bhatt's female protagonists are never uni-dimensional. There's always an element of mystery to them. I liked portraying an enigma. My character has a past tense, and a present imperfect. She gets murdered. I am there throughout....unlike Vikram Bhatt's "Elaan", which had little of me. But it was always meant to be a slick actioner. The focus wasn't on the performances. "Jurm" was a performance-oriented film. All of us - Bobby, Gul Panag, Milind Soman and me - had a lot of scope to make an impact.
You and Priyanka Chopra have a parallel career. Do you think she made better choices?
At the end of the day, everyone has her own priorities. I've known her since she became Miss India. I look at her and admire her today. Right along, she knew she wanted to be at the top. I'm very ambitious too. But I'm a different person. I've never had anyone to guide me in Bollywood. I'm extremely self-willed. Priyanka's priorities are different. But they've worked for her. There's truly no malice between us. We're both doing what we believe in.
At the same time, both of you are eligible for identical projects?
True. There're very few good projects for heroines. And for sure each one of us has the right to fight to get the best roles. Everyone wants to be successful. Still, I wouldn't say I wish I had done Priayanka's role in "Aitraaz". But I'd love to work with Abbas-Mustan.
But it's a dream role. You don't have any of those?
I agree. Some of my career decisions are disastrous. "Insan" was a big mistake and I'm sorry for doing it. I stepped into it with eyes wide open and still fell on my face. I had struck a rapport with Raj Kumar Santoshi after my item song ("Aisa jadoo") in "Khakee". I did "Insan" purely because Raj was the producer. And there were Ajay Devgan and Akshay Kumar...so I wasn't wrong in expecting a certain calibre. But things went terribly wrong. Lots of changes, and all the girls got a raw deal. The saddest part is, people who believe in me felt let down. I couldn't deal with that. But like I said, I had no knowledge of how the industry operates.
Do you think there has been unnecessary body exposure as far you're concerned?
I'd agree with that. In the industry, intelligence can be a disadvantage. Sometimes you just need to turn the intelligence level off and kind of go with the flow. From "Andaaz" onwards, people have been talking about my skimpy clothes, etc. But I've been Miss Universe. I'm 5 foot 7 inches tall. I can look good in a skirt or jeans. I'm comfortable with all kinds of clothes.
But I'm talking about lack of clothes.
I know. There was this whole trend whereby skin is in. After two years in Bollywood I feel women are used here as show pieces. Today, I know how far I can go without being made to look vulgar on screen. I wouldn't wear a bikini. I don't want to do the skin thing any more. I squirm when I see how some of my scenes were shot. Now I need to be more assertive about these things.
Your one abiding passion?
You mean besides my man Kelly Dorji? Shoes. I own hundreds of them. Everywhere I go I somehow manage to leave a pair in the hotel as my calling card. In fact I carry so many of them I lose count. For a three-day shoot I'm known to take as many as fifteen pairs of shoes. Hopefully I won't grow old and be known as a little old lady who collects shoes.

* Shahid Kapur: Cutting chai
Did you know that Shahid Kapur is a tea addict? "I don't have any vices. I don't drink. I don't smoke. The only habit I can't give up is having tea. I have at least eight mugs of tea everyday." Now that's one "tea-totaller"! More dope on the actor, he is looking forward to the release of Boney Kapoor's Milenge Milenge with girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, John Mathew Manthan's Life Ho To Aisi with Amrita Rao and Vikram Bhatt's Deewane Huye Paagal with Amisha Patel. That reminds us that Amisha and Kareena cannot stand each other. What was his take on them? "I have not yet interacted with Amisha. Vikram Bhatt and I are formal with each other," he said.
* Vivek-Ash: All's well
While Vivek Oberoi is going all out to project a 'socially responsible' persona, there are questions being raised about his relationship with Aishwarya Rai. However, the actor recently spoke on the beauty queen. He went on record saying he no longer had problems with Salman Khan. "In fact, if I meet him I will be cordial with him," he said. Vivek also clarified that he and girlfriend Aishwarya Rai had not split. "I don't want to discuss my relationship with the media. I am not concerned about the star, actress or international brand name called Aishwarya Rai. What matters to me is person that she is," he said. * It's Akshay Kumar's bad Waqt
Right now filmmaker Vipul Shah is undergoing very conflicting feelings. While he's elated at the response to his new film "Waqt" he's also distressed by rumours that he and leading man Akshay Kumar aren't the best of friends.
He has described as "completely false" reports that he had entered into a contract with Akshay Kumar regarding the dedication of "Waqt: The Race Against Time"" to the star's father.
"There was absolutely no contract or legal document between us regarding the dedication of 'Waqt' to Akshay's father. The decision was entirely emotional, nothing official about it all. After all 'Waqt' is all about a son discovering his father, and vice versa.
"Akshay felt very close to the project. And when he suggested that he would like to pay his deceased dad a tribute through the film, I readily agreed. I know how close one feels to a parent particularly when he has left us recently. Being fond of Akshay I saw no reason to deny him his right to remember his father through the film."
The difference of opinion between the two, if any, is in an entirely different context.
Akshay Kumar has been told by many of his friends that there are one too many songs breaking into the narrative of "Waqt". He has therefore suggested to Vipul Shah that a stanza be deleted from each song thereby automatically reducing the film's length by half an hour.
But Vipul Shah isn't in the mood to do the needful. "I accept that there are too many songs in the film. I should've put at least two songs less in 'Waqt'. But now that they are there and the film is doing so well, I don't want to cut anything and send wrong signals to the film trade.
"You know every time a big film is re-edited immediately after release people presume it isn't doing well. But why should I perform an emergency surgery on my film when it's in fine health?"
Shah has a point. "Waqt" has had a good opening. Audiences are enjoying its Gujarati humour and the quick flow of quips.
Says the jubilant director, "By the grace of god, 'Waqt' seems to have sailed through without a hitch. Audiences love the chemistry between Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay. Every character and performance has been appreciated.
"Before the release people compared 'Waqt' unnecessarily with 'Baghban' just because both starred Amitabh Bachchan in a family film. I agree the music isn't up to the mark. But I wouldn't like to blame my composer Anu Malik for it. I think I chose the wrong tunes.
"But Akshay is certainly not forcing me to delete them. He made a friendly suggestion which I don't intend to agree to, unless there's a drastic drop in attendance in the coming days."
Akshay Kumar, shooting in Mauritius, has the last word. "Why are people unnecessarily creating controversies? 'Waqt' doesn't need such publicity."

### Sallu's regard for Aish
Salman Khan is stated to have recovered from the Aishwarya Rai's shock, but the facts are contrary to it. He has not forgotten her even after years. The recent incident speaks about it. Salman may be involved with Katrina Kaif and might be ready to marry with her soon, but cannot tolerate anyone saying ill of her. Recently, he met with a pretty actress known for maintaining herself even after ten long years in films. She tried to make a fun of the dressing sense of Aish. This angered Salman, and he flared up and told her that she would never match Aish. The actress was stunned. Is Aish listening?
#### Tusshar to make anti-smoking film
Actor Tusshar Kapoor has taken a vow to save the people from smoking. For achieving this aim, he is making a movie against smoking with the help of his family doctor and in association with Nargis Dutt Foundation. While Tusshar will produce the movie, his family doctor named Bhotra, would provide him the inputs, say, the theme material. Partho Mitra will direct it. The movie would be exhibited in schools, colleges and universities to propagate the dangerous effects of smoking. Tusshar says that the prevalent practice of showing an actor smoking to improve his image in Bollywood movies motivated him to make this film. Moreover, he may show this movie on the small screen as well.
##### Neha keeps her promises
Neha Dhupia is the one actress who keeps her promise what may come. She had promised to Sohail Khan that she would be give a guest appearance in his film. She has fulfilled this in his 'Fight Club'. She is often seen these days with the 'Sheesha' fame Sonu Sood. The latter advised her to wear tight dresses, and Neha fulfilled this commitment too. Consequently, Neha visits Sonu and attends parties in tight clothes only. This proves that she keeps her promises at all cost.
###### Antata bid to enter production
Anatara Mali, daughter of a well-known photographer and a discovery of famous director Ram Gopal Verma, is busy these days in readying herself to enter film production. Presumably this is the result of Ramu giving Antara a chance to direct one of his movies. She has now begun working on a production house with his father. She feels that she can easily handle the new job as she is a heroine herself and her father can head the camera team. Besides, she is stated to possess written scripts too. Now, she is contacting Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi to rope them in her new venture.

### Fardeen to enter production
Fardeen Khan is in a dilemma these days because most of his recent films have flopped like Boney Kapoor's 'Khushi', Ram Gopal Verma's 'Bhoot' and home production 'Jaanasheen'. Besides, he has very few movies on hand. He is presently dependent on David Dhawan's comedy 'Shaadi Number One'. Fardeen says that his latest movie centers on a marriage story. However, he doesn't tell us about whose marriage and with whom. There are three pairs in the movie starring Fardeen, Sanjay Dutt and Zaved Khan with three girls -Esha Deol, Soha Ali Khan and Ayesha Takia. Fardeen doesn't want to be typecast with any particular image. Like his father Feroz Khan, Fardeen has decided to direct movies though after some time, but will meanwhile enter production sooner.
#### Deepal Shaw to act in 'Shayad'
After doing remix albums and music videos, Deepal Shaw is firming up her hold in the tinsel world. She is acting in Hriday Shetty's 'Shayad' (Perhaps), besides 'Blue Film'. She says that 'Blue Film' is not what its title indicates!
##### Rani avoids further gossips
The tinsel world is abuzz with the rumor that Khandala girl Rani Mukherjee quit Meera Nair's movie 'The Namesake' as Rani didn't like to enact hot scenes, including lip-locking with Junior B Abishek Bachchan in the movie as desired by Mira. Since reports about an affair between Rani and Abhishek are already there, especially after her performances with Big B in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Black' and with Junior Bachchan in 'Bunty Aur Bubli', Rani decided to quit Meera's movie. That's why Tabu is already shooting Rani's role in Meera's movie 'The Namesake' in New York.
###### Corporatisation of Bollywood?

Famous producer Shekhar Kapoor supports the latter view that the corporatisation will affect the creativity of the artists and will lead to the making of typeset movies only.

# Rani in top gear
Khandala girl Rani Mukherjee remained in limelight during the recent visit of Pakistani President General Parvez Mussaraf to India. She was one of the very few invitees to a special dinner hosted for the guest. It is learnt that Rani is the most popular Bollywood star in Lollywood (Pakistan) these days. Hence, she had been invited to meet Mussaraf family. This is to recall that Mussaraf's mother had shown keen interest in watching the movie 'Black', starring Rani Mukherjee. The Pakistan's President office had obtained its DVD for the President's mother. Rani is very exited these days as two of her recently released movies 'Veer- Zaara' and 'Black' have been hits. Besides, she is looking forward to her third 'The Rissing' to release soon. She also claims that her forthcoming movie 'Bunty Aur Babli' opposite Abhishek Bachchan will wipe out the stigma attached to her name that that she lacks sex appeal in movies.
## Sush promoting boyfriend
Sushmita Sen is promoting her recent boyfriend Randeep Hooda of 'Moonsoon Wedding' fame. She has been saying from roof tops that she has seen the rushes of Ram Gopal Varma's forthcoming movie 'D'. However, she doesn't tell the people about the performance of Randeep. This way she is promoting her friend more than Ramu's movie. The viewers will finally decide about the fate of the movie irrespective of its promotion by any star.
### Blind girl character catching up
The character of a blind girl is caching up with the film stars. When Rani Mukherjee played the role of a blind girl in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Black', she earned glory for herself. Meghna Naidu of the 'Kaliyon ka Chaman' fame is doing the same character in 'Rain' and Rangeela girl Urmila Matondkar is following her footsteps in 'Naina'. Now, we have learnt that the 'Lagaan' girl Gracy Singh will play a blind village girl in 'White Land'. This movie is being made about the problems faced by the salt makers of Gujarat. Jayant Gliter will direct 'White Land' that will also cast Seema Biswas and Aashish Choudhry.
#### Girls love to work with Sallu
How come the pretty girls of the tinsel world always fall for Salman Khan? Yes, it is true that Salman Khan is one of the few stars that can turn a film to be a hit. That's why all actresses are crazy to work with Salman Khan. 'Julie' girl Neeha Dhupia agreed to do a small role even in Suhail Khan's 'Fight Club' to come closer to Salman Khan. However, it is wondered if Neha will ever prove Sneha Ullal even if she comes close to Salman Khan.
##### Govinda losing grip in films
Govinda has indeed turned a politician. He has lost his grip over the film industry as he has had hardly any hit in the recent past. Hopefully, he has abandoned his ego that David Dhawan's comedy proved hits because of his presence. David Dhawan has proved it by making hits even without Govinda. Will Govinda realize it sooner than he loses his status in the film industry. However, we are keeping our fingers crossed about Govinda's forthcoming 'Sukh' and 'Ek Haseena Ek Deewana'.
###### Lara Dutta foresees bright future
Miss Universe Lara Dutta is hopeful of a great future for her. Starting with 'Andaaz' and following it with 'Mumbai Se Aaya Meera Dost' she mesmerized the viewers, both by her beauty and performance. However, she committed a mistake by acting with Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar in their masala films that flopped at the box office. She remained a sort of showpiece in those movies, and earned bad name as compared to her contemporaries. She says that she is finding it difficult to establish her identity in movies in the midst of several actresses. But to remain in the industry she has to compromise by accepting such offers. So, she agreed to act in Boney Kapoor 'No Entry' and Soham Shah's 'Kaal'.

* VIVEK WAITING FOR 'KAAL'S RESPONSE
By Eye TV India Bureau
Vivek Oberoi who had enough of masti in 'Masti' was disappointed with the viewers negative response to his 'Kyon Ho Gaya Na' and 'Kisna' (of Subhash Ghai) making no hangama at the box office. Meanwhile, he entered into the social work in the wake of tsunami tragedy, killing and displacing lakhs of people within and outside India. So, he devoted his full time in helping the tsunami victims in Tamil Nadu. However, his Tamil Nadu project ran into trouble because of the differences between the state chief minister Ms Jayalalitha and himself. Now, Vivek is banking on 'Kaal' being produced by Karan Johar and directed by Soham. Vivek's co-stars Ajay Devgan and John Abraham in 'Kaal' are optimistic about Vivek's future beginning with 'Kaal'.
Ajay says such bad phases do come in every actor's life. Ajay has worked with Vivek in 'Yuva'. John Abraham considers Vivek as the best actor. Significantly, Shekhar Kapoor has signed Vivek for his prestigious movie 'Paani'. Though Vivek has a few more offers in hand, he doesn't want to disclose them. He is awaiting the response to 'Kaal' that may decide his course of action. "The story of 'Kaal' is amazing. This is a new subject never touched before in any movie, " Vivek says. Yes, my character was changed in the movie. I was to play Kaali Pratap, who saves us from remaining trapped in the forest. Since this character needed to be an aged person, this role was later given to Ajay Devgan".

* Big B rejects SRK's Rs 2 Ceore
Amitabh Bachchan will be seen in an interesting cameo in Shah Rukh Khan's home-production "Paheli".
According to some media reports, the superstar has not only accommodated the role in his busy schedule, but also declined to accept the remuneration of Rs.20 million that Shah Rukh offered.
The report quoting Bachchan said Shah Rukh gave him an envelope and flowers after the shoot.
He assumed it was a thank you note but found that it was a cheque, that too an unsigned one. Bachchan returned the cheque with a letter saying that he had done the film for emotional reasons and emotions could not be evaluated.
He also offered a word of elderly advice that one should never make the mistake of issuing an unsigned cheque.

* Sorry.. I was drunk: Amitabh
Just how he manages to cram it all in within 24 hours is a mystery, But Amitabh Bachchan has one more achievement to his credit. He has just shot a music video for Yashraj Films.
“It’s the visuals for the rap track B&B for Bunty Aur Babli. It’s very catchy and very young. Let’s see how I’ve done,” says AB, guarded as usual.
But according to sources at Yashraj Films, the music video totally rocks.
So much so, that they have decided to actually use the song in the film.
Explains AB, “That shouldn’t be of any surprise. The trend of putting a music video or an item song with the opening titles or end titles began at Yashraj Films with Dhoom. I won’t be surprised if my number is used for the opening titles of Bunty Aur Babli. I really enjoyed filming it.”
Shiamak Davar, who wasn’t physically present at the shooting, choreographed the number.
“Though Shiamak was out of the country, he gave instructions by proxy. We had no problem following his dance steps,” says AB.
This isn’t the first item song that AB has shot for Bunty Aur Babli. “I’ve done a qawwali number with Abhishek and Aishwarya, though I haven’t seen how it looks on screen. If anything goes wrong, I can always excuse myself saying my character is drunk in the number,” he jokes.
AB is no stranger to music videos. In the 1980s, when he had temporarily given up film acting, he shot a music video based on his hit song Kabhi kabhi mere dil mein with Tamil actress Shobhana. More recently, he did the whacky Kabhi nahin with Adnan Sami.
“These are minor diversions meant to generate fun. Frankly, I think I’m too old to be doing dance numbers,” says the ever youthful Bachchan. But going by the way B&B looks, it seems like a long way off before the senior Bachchan can say goodbye to singing and dancing.

* Farhan Akhtar turns actor
Farhan Akhtar ka dil kya chahta hai? “Well I want to direct my next film. But since there’s some way to go before I start I’ve decided to face the camera.”
Farhan has agreed to play one of the leads in debutant director Anand Surapur’s The Fakir. “It’s a very interesting, very down-to-earth , rooted-to-reality kind of script, just my kind of film where I don’t have to ‘act-act’…you know what I mean?”
Farhan’s wife has already given him a shiny new haircut for the film. “It’s really funny how my haircuts have turned me into an anonymous soul. I change my hairstyle so often that people have a hard time recognizing me.
For The Fakir I’ve got my hair cut the way I think the character should look…It’s basically a story about the search for life and how the truth about existence comes to us at the most unexpected junctures of life.”
The tv anchor and actor Anu Kapoor plays the other lead. “It’s basically a film about these two characters. Kamal Sidhu also plays a part. But that’s it. No other major character. I like the intimacy of the script. And I like the director’s approach.”
Director Anband Surapur originally wanted to cast Saif Ali Khan in the role. “But that didn’t work out, for whatever reason,” explains Farhan. “So when Anand came to me I immediately said yes. I’ve known him for a long time.”
Thus begins Farhan’s career as an actor. He was earlier to make his debut in a film called Honeymoon to be directed by his former assistant Reema. Rituparno Ghosh had also approached Farhan to act in a film.
“But I guess I was destined to be in The Fakir. It’s a film in “Hinglish”, for want of a better term,” Farhan shoots off , as nervous as schoolboy about to attend first day of classes.
