Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Aamir Khan:
When I did the Coke ad with her, she hadn’t made it this big. But one could see that she had the spark.
Aishwarya is going to be successful in the global market. She is talented, good-looking and professional.
* Abhishek Bachchan:
She's my senior but she's been wonderful and a real pleasure to work with. She's professional, talented, warm and co-operative. She's gone out of her way to help me on the sets.
* Aditi Govitrikar:
It's probably the complexion and the light eyes that make us pass off as similar. She's much prettier in comparisons. But I hope that her success rubs on to me though.
* Aftab Shivdasani:
Of course I'd love to do a film with her. Who in is his right mind wouldn't?
* Ajay Devgan:
While working in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, we got along very well, and now too we're having a good time working together.
* Ajay Jadeja:
I remember having played a fast one at of my friends claiming that I would give up on cricket if I were offered a film with Aishwarya Rai.
* Ajith Kumar:
As for me, a film with Aishwarya Rai and Tabu was heaven - sent. I agreed right away.
* Akshaye Khanna:
She just gets better and better. Ash is one of the most beautiful women I've seen.
Ash is a very professional person.
We have worked together in Aa Ab Laut Chalen. The entire unit used to be in awe of her but she stayed focussed on her work. Her commitment is to be admired and oh what a dancer!
* Amar Singh:
I had never seen a more stunning looking woman. I didn't know her before but she was so warm and cordial. But more importantly, I felt that she was a very intense actress. I was very surprised the way she handled herself in various scenes.
* Amitabh Bachchan:
We all keep seeing her everywhere. She's beautiful and a really wonderful person.
In today's time, she has just about the most perfect face. It is difficult to find any defect in her face, her body. She is truly deserving of the titles she has won and has now accomplished her by being a very fine creative artiste on celluloid as well.
* Amrita Rao:
Ash is sooooooo beautiful and such a fine actress. I'm sure that she's done a good
Job. You know, when I learnt that Ash was playing the same character (Shaheed) as I did, I was thrilled to bits!
* Anil Kapoor:
She wants the best and if the best is in short supply, she is willing to wait. And with this attitude like that, she has to go places.
* Arbbas Khan:
I was to be cast opposite Miss World Aishwarya Rai. I am a die-hard fan of hers. My favourite model is Aishwarya Rai. She's got it all man.
* Arjun Rampal:
She's a very professional actress. Besides, this was her home production. We were all concentrating on making our film. She's a fantastic actress with years of experience behind her. I do believe that to get to the top slot you have to have a tremendous amount of dedication. So, Ash must be a pro at dividing her professional and personal life into watertight compartments. As a co-star, I'd say that never once did the shooting suffer on account of anybody's personal problems. And, as a friend, I'd say Ash is a strong girl and she's bound to surmount all. Her presence as a producer and co-star was hundred percent. I've known Ash since her modelling days and I truly admire her ability to give her 100 percent to her work.
What can I say, we have worked together earlier as models. It's strange but I'm facing her everyday on the sets and then one fine day, I'm watching her in Devdas. And I was blown, slapped in the face. Devdas speaks volumes of her as an actress. I can imagine how amazed a common man must be when he watches Ash in Devdas. Of course, the credit goes to her director and everyone else as well, but definitely to her, as I've never experienced being awestruck by someone's performance so much. And she's a thorough professional who knows what she's doing. I've had a blast shooting with her.
Yeah, we got along very well. We've worked together ever since our modelling days, and now it's funny that we're in films together. Whenever we meet each other on the sets, we both crack up and can't stop laughing. It's so weird, we were once upon a time models, and now we're actors.
Ash is very beautiful. I just love the way she dances. She has an elegance, which not many can claim to possess. She is style personified.
Her humility and her consideration are very touching. We’ve known each other since modelling days and believe me she hasn’t changed. She is where she is because she is so professional.
* Aryan Khan:
She is beautiful!
* Asha Bhonsle:
She’s a very simple girl. I didn’t feel that I was with Aishwarya Rai. She also came with me to seek the blessings of the Shankaracharya, who was also on the flight. I advised Aishwarya to do films like Meena Kumari and Nargis'.
* Ashish Vidyarthi:
When you have eyesores like me up they’re on the screen, then you need some balm for your eyes too, -- like Aishwarya and Sushmita.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Bally Sagoo:
Aishwarya Rai is my favourite, of course. She is a ras malai.
* Bipasha Basu:
Also Aishwarya Rai, who I feel, is a complete actress, just like old-time actresses.
* Bobby Deol:
She's so beautiful. Even though she was a newcomer, there was a buzz about her. I think she's the most beautiful Miss World to date. We were shooting at Switzerland for Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, and people there would stop to just stare at her. Such is her aura. We got along well on the sets of Aur Pyar Ho Gaya.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Celina Jaitley:
I like Aishwarya a lot. She is gorgeous. She acts well and is a terrific dancer too.
* Chandrachur Singh:
I think Aishwarya is a very beautiful person from the inside. Very good human being and she's just too good to work with. It has been a great privilege working with her. I really enjoyed myself. Very kind, very sensitive human being.
* Chunky Pandey:
A dance competition with Madhuri Dixit is like a fight against Mike Tyson. But after watching Devdas, for the first time I felt that someone was actually better than Madhuri. It was Aishwarya Rai who took the cake in Devdas. And she was fabulous even in the Dola Re song.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* David Dhawan:
The problem with most filmmakers is that they want Aishwarya for her beauty. I signed her in Hum Kisise Kum Nahin for her enigmatic presence, and for the fact that it is believable that a brother and a boyfriend can become so possessive about her.
* Dev Anand:
To me Aishwarya Rai is not a beauty queen. She is stylized.
* Dino Morea:
I am seeing Aishwarya. You didn't hear it? !
* Diana Hayden:
Recently Sush, Ash and I did a photo shoot together and we were extremely cordial with each other. Nobody was clawing each other's eyes out, there was no frigid coldness in the air, nothing of the sort. We may not be the best of friends, we may not look at things the way the other does, but we were as civil and civilised as any other threesome of girls. Believe it or not!
* Dilip Kumar:
They are all very good in the film (Devdas) - but I couldn't take my eyes off her.
* Diya Mirza:
She's one of the world's most beautiful women and she is a super achiever.

Technique-wise, no one can touch her, but she needs to have more fun, put in a little more soul.

Another actress I like is Aishwarya Rai. She has really done well in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Gurinder Chadha:
I thought she was great in her first film, and in the south Indian version of Sense And Sensibility. She has great performance skills and a lot of intelligence. With me and my style of working, I know she will give a blinding performance.
* Govinda:
I admire her. She is not only a beautiful woman but also a beautiful person. As performers we can always tell a fake from a genuine person. She is warm and thoughtful.
* Gracy Singh:
Aishwarya's a very warm person and very helpful. I travelled with her and her mom on our way back, only the three of us, as the rest of the crew had already left. She took great care of me; it was the first time I was traveling alone. You know the first time I met her at the rehearsals she walked up to me, held my hand and said, "You're very graceful, and your name suits you." Imagine getting such a compliment from a pretty and graceful woman like Aishwarya.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Hemant Trevedi:
She knows she is beautiful but she wants to be accepted as a person first. I've seen her softer sideÑmaternal, sisterly. She is all women, a very caring person. The other day we were talking about old times. I didn't forget the smallest, most intimate and innocuous moments. Neither had she. Even if Ash and I are in a crowded room, we'll find each other. It's wonderful! She never smote me romantically but I did want her deeply as a friend.
* Hrishita Bhatt:
Look at Aishwarya. When she did films like Jeans and Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, she was categorised as "wooden", but where are the people who gave her this label after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam?
* Hrithik Roshan:
I am looking forward to working with Aishwarya. I'm sure it's going to be great fun and a good experience.

* Indra Kumar:
I am quite sure that I have given her two story narrations. Maybe her mind was wondering somewhere else that time.
* Isha Koppikar:
I’ve worked with Aishwarya in Dil Ka Rishta, and we hit it off very well. We keep in touch over the phone. So, the other day Ash was shooting for a Bengali film and she asked me, "Isha, you must know Bengali, right?" Incidentally, she also believed that I was seeing Priyanshu. And so, the Bengali connection was hard to miss. I shrugged it off saying, "Kya Ash, tu bhi?!"

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Javed Akhtar:
I have a favorite phrase in praise of her beauty, which is, "Are you for real?"
* Jackie Shroff:
We did two films Albela and Devdas. Ash a woman of inner strength and despite all the controversy surrounding her, she remains focused in her work. She exudes a lot of dignity. Even if she were upset she would never let it affect her work. A thorough professional when we worked together, the entire unit used to be awestruck by her.
Aishwarya too is a friend and I think that she is one of the most gorgeous girls that I have seen in my life -- after my wife! In fact she's a very devoted performer too and definitely going to go down in the history of Indian Cinema, just like Madhubala.
* Jayaseel:
I am flabbergasted by her historic talents. I never expected so much acting ability from a beauty queen. She dazzles as a danseuse. In Kandukondain Kandukondain, she scored easy successes both in acting and dancing. Her potentials are great. Her grandeur is matchless. Her prowess is peerless. How eager am I to see her in person, face to face!
* Juhi Chawla:
I really like the way Aishwarya is conducting herself in this industry. She has not allowed herself to get caught up in squabbling or name-calling.
* Julia Roberts:
She is really the most beautiful woman in the world.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Kalpana Lajmi:
I love Aishwarya in Rajiv Menon's Kandukondain Kandukondain. In a couple of her earlier films, I'd felt that she was an ice maiden. Incidently, I think it's commendable that both Aishwarya and Karisma are performers and at the same time they're superstars. They can actually command a crore of rupees as their remuneration and get it.
* Karan Johar:
She is truly the face of India. If there is any actor who can make a mark internationally, it is she.
I had offered Rani's role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Aishwarya, which very few people know. In fact, I had approached four-five actresses, but she was the only one who was really very, very sweet; She called back and told me that she loved the role, but she had a dates issue - she was doing Jeans at the time which required her to travel all over the world for the 7 wonders song. When I put the phone down, I told my mother that day (I am very close with my parents) that I was a nobody, but she still bothered to call and explain herself to me. I love Aishwarya Rai. I am a big fan of hers. She's gorgeous, she's beautiful. I am very fond of her. When we meet, we chat a lot. I loved her in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and I absolutely loved her in Devdas. In fact, I even called her up and told her so. It would be my privilege and honour to work with her (right now I am not planning anything). I'd love to present her beautifully. I just like Aishwarya tremendously and I hope to work with her in the future.
* Kareena Kapoor:
If I ever meet Aishwarya, I’m going to tell her how superb she was in Devdas.
* Karisma Kapoor:
Aishwarya has had Subhash Ghai, Sanjay Bhansali to direct her. She's hot right now. But that peak happened to me in 1996.
* Kiron Kher:
Aishwarya is gorgeous. Though one did read in the papers about the emotional pressures that she was going through, on the sets, she was a thorough professional. She worked without letting those pressures bog her down, untiringly throughout the film.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Madhur Bhandarkar:
She is every director’s dream. It is difficult to say what attracts a filmmaker to the actress. But in Aishwarya’s case it is primarily her beauty and also that she is a director’s actress, and therefore a happy challenge.
* Madhuri Dixit:
Ash is down to earth and fun to work with. She was great to have as a companion for the dance. She's quick on the uptake, very graceful. I've seen a lot of girls doing Indian dancing, western dancing and all that. But I think where Indian dancing goes, she's really very good, very graceful.
And although I don't need to say it anymore, Aishwarya is really good. She's more of a rounded actress. She looks good, dances well and at the same time acts well.
* Mahesh Bhatt:
Aishwarya is like petite angel who needs your protection. She is not obviously erotic.
* Mahima Chaudary:
Aishwarya was always my senior. I have great respect for her, I admire her. I remember when I bagged that Pepsi contract; I was very excited that I would be doing a commercial with her. She was the top model, besides the other added incentive was meeting Aamir Khan who is the top actor. Despite all the comparisons, I must say whether it Ash or Sush, they have paved the way by giving models respectability as actresses.
* Mammoothy:
Aishwarya Rai is very beautiful but I am very handsome too.
* Mamta Kulkarni:
I'm pretty friendly to both Madhuri and Ash. And I think they are very good human beings.
* Manisha Koirala:
Aishwarya was quite competent. I know she was panned mercilessly in her first few films. But she's around for just a couple of years. Soon, she'll become seasoned.
* Mansoor Khan:
Aishwarya is one of the most beautiful actresses. I have had the opportunity to direct. We enjoyed working together and since day one she has been co-operation personified. There have been times when we have had differences of opinion, but it all has been towards betterment of the film. I have not seen her in any other film, except Josh, and if you ask my opinion, she is extremely versatile with the potential to go places.
* MF Hussain:
Well what can I say? She is the beauty queen so obviously everyone will want to cast her in his or her films.
* Mohanlal:
The thrill vanishes once you really meet the person. She was acting with me all the time. She was my heroine. I found her to be a very down to earth girl. As an actress also, she is very good. Since we were acting together, I did not feel fascinated at all. But then I know that there is no point in having a fascination! (Laughs) If I had not seen Aishwarya Rai at all, I might have a craving to see her because she was a former Miss World, but in reality she was acting with me.

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Taal made Aishwarya a nation-wide craze. Most of the time even Sush, Ash and I talk shop. It would be nice to get together socially.
* Netra Raghuraman:

* Pooja Batra:
Oh, Aishwarya has not changed one bit. She is still the same sweet person I knew. Though because of our busy schedules we don't really get to talk to each other very much. But still, whenever we meet up, it's always with the same warmth as ever.
* Preeti Jhangiani:
Once I had to dance while Shahrukh and Ash were sitting there and it was bitterly cold. And I am not a fabulous dancer. It was freezing in Switzerland and I kept falling all the time but they never acted like stars. They never made me feel "Oh we are sitting here and this girl is making us wait." They were like "Take your time. It's ok."
* Preity Zinta:
Ash and me, we're friends. We're not best friends. My best friend is a girl called Shagun. My experience with Ash is limited to the world tour we did together. Ash was extremely graceful about the fact that we were working together, extremely well mannered and I discovered a fun side to her which I didn't know existed. Perhaps because I didn't know her. Whatever interaction we had, was very, very nice. You can say we've started developing a friendship. And it doesn't matter which films are coming my way or which films are going her way. There are roles that suit her and those that suits me -- it's that simple. I can't imagine Devdas without her. And much as I'd like to see myself playing Paro, I can't even dream of it. It's not me.
Aishwarya is drop dead gorgeous! I have always found her extremely beautiful. When I saw her in Devdas, I just died. Ash is beautiful and stunning... Sushmita is also beautiful and stunning. Sush has this fire and sexy appeal. But, picture perfect - Ash!!! She is flawless. When they talk about beauty in the annals of history, in the '50s & '60s, they will talk about Madhubala. In 2000, they will talk about Aishwarya Rai.
When I see Ash in the songs of Taal, I feel it's just not fair for someone to look so gorgeous on screen. Initially, I didn't think Ash and me would get along. However, after our World Tour together, my opinion of her changed. We got along very well. She used to dance so well, that I would tease her by saying that I want to break your legs!
* Prem Chopra:
I am happy to be playing with Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra (both world beauties) even as their 'father'.
* Puru Raaj Kumar:
Aishwarya is good too. As an artiste she has evolved and matured a great deal with each outing.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Raj Kanwar:
I have worked with actresses from Sridevi to Aishwarya. I can confidently say she is one of the best we have. Apart from Bhansali's films, she acted very well in Taal. Even in my film, she gave a good performance. She knows how to understand a character. Besides, when films fail, it's not right to blame or doubt her abilities as an actress.
For this, I was sure that Aishwarya Rai would do justice. She got extremely expressive eyes and moulds herself easily into the character she's potraying. In Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Aishwarya potrays the North Indian girl with a modern outlook with ease and conviction. Her beauty adds to the visual appeal of the film but Aishwarya is today an actress of merit, talent and emotional capabilities.
* Raj Kumar Santoshi:
I have known Aishwarya and her family for a long time, since the time she became Miss World. One expected her to change after the title and was relieved to discover that she hadn’t. She is still the same person despite the halo around her and so is her family. Strong, independent and intelligent, Ash knows her mind. Her strength is her precision. She is very clear about what she wants and if she delays decisions, it’s because she hasn’t made up her mind. Her problem is that everyone wants her in his or her films. She cannot do all the films and those she refuses, bad mouth her. In a male-dominated industry, they are not used to strong actresses and want to see her crumble under pressure. As an actress, she is spontaneous. Initially, I had my reservations about her as a performer but after watching her on my sets, I have changed my mind. She could have refused Khakee because the film doesn’t revolve around her but she agreed, said it’s not the length but the quality of the role that mattered. Despite what happen to her in her private life, she does not carry any emotional baggage. Once in front of the camera, she is poised, punctual and gives hundred percent.
* Ramesh Taurani:
For someone as beautiful and as successful as her, you expect her to be self-assured all the time. It’s only when you work with her, you realise how vulnerable she is and can have as many weak moments as you and me. That’s quite touching.
* Raakhee:
As for Aishwarya Rai, Sanjay Bhansali has given her wings. There are so many dimensions to her performance. I didn’t think of Madhubala or any other actress while watching Aishwarya in Devdas. I could only see her in every scene.
* Rahul Rawail:
Aishwarya is a director's actress all the way. During Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, she was so open to all inputs we gave her and she works diligently. I must add that she has this tremendous sense of dancing that no other contemporary has. She deserves all the kudos for being where she is today.
* Rajiv Menon:
After Aishwarya Rai gave two huge hits in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Taal, a lot of her films, which were in sleep mode suddenly, woke up. So, she had to devote time to those films, which caused us a delay of around four to five months. And Ash has given a great performance.
* Rakesh Roshan:
She is a very fine actress and I would love to work with her.
* Ram Gopal Verma:
Everyone knows Aishwarya’s beautiful. But Bhansali captured her beauty with a rare intensity.
* Rani Mukherji:
I don't think anything will ever change my feelings for Ash, our friendship is beyond pettiness. We are friendly not just on a superficial level.
And Aishwarya Rai is my jaan. I adore her. She's my 4 am friend. When we were at the world concert tour last September, Twinkle Khanna had nicknamed Ash and me 'Siamese twins' because we were together constantly. Like me, Ash too has been victimised by some presswallahs who've labeled her everything from a snob to a calculating person. The media can't digest the fact that Ash is so beautiful and yet so warm.
* Rekha:
I find her natural, unaffected and down to earth. Among the models I admire, she is the best. There is that extra something about her, which is very appealing. The media has been consistently calling her 'plastic' and unexpressive. But I don't agree. She isn't at all plastic. On the contrary, I find her very expressive.
* Rishi Kapoor:
Aishwarya is the most professional actress I've met in my 27-years career! She has no time for nonsense. She has no airs.
* Rohit BAL:
I just love Aishwarya Rai. She is like a little doll, so absolutely gorgeous! I feel it is terrible what has happened with Salman, and the media has been so mean to her about it!

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Salim Khan:
She's a grown up girl, a successful career woman.
* Salman Khan:
Aishwarya has been Miss World, she has a clean reputation, she is intelligent and she makes right decisions. I am a brat, I am cold and calculative, and my thinking is old-fashioned. She says that she has been single for a while now. That says it all. I hope she finds her dream man who will take care of her. She made the right decision, but people I love will always remain in my heart. But when the most important people in your life forgets you, it hurts, but I am not depressed.
I'm proud of her. I'm proud to be associated with her. My name linked with hers? It's a privilege. What more can anyone ask for a man?
* Sanjay Dutt:
She is so beautiful and innocent woman! That's why she shouldn't join films. Here, you may remain beautiful but not innocent.
Aishwarya is a comparative newcomer but she's a 90's girl too. And she's going great guns.
* Sanjay Leela Bhansali:
Aishwarya is one of the most intelligent persons I've met. Her grasping power is extraordinary. She is all there. Always. Thinking. Questioning. She does her homework in the car on her way to the set. She is very graceful too. Even if I asked her to run down the stairs, she would do it so rhythmically that I would be awe-struck. I didn't have to work too much on her.
When you watch her from the lens, you feel inspired to can more footage on the actress. For someone as beautiful, she does not take her beauty for granted and more important, works passionately on her performance.
Ash is a marvel to work with and she is a close friend today. I am very happy that we have made such a good film. She has got all the ingredients to be a superstar ala Monroe! I consider her a fine actress, and am certain that she will get better with every film.
* Saroj Khan:
Yes, not too many acknowledge and appreciate the hardwork others put in for them. But then, that's why Aishwarya is so special. She's a sweet child. We share a love between a child do and us like a mother. Aishwarya is a very well brought-up child. She's very normal, very well behaved. She respects her profession; she's never late on the sets. She never misbehaves either. Once she reports for shooting, she doesn't leave until the day's work is accomplished. It goes to show that she is very reliable.
* Satish Kaushik:
The growth of Aishwarya as an actress is there for all to see. One need not say much about how hardworking and determined she is. Working with her for Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai has proved to be an unforgettable experience. On one side, we had Anil Kapoor, who is famous for his hard work, and I must say Aishwarya matched him at every step. After Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, she definitely will gain maturity as an actress.
* Shahrukh Khan:
Hey! She's the best looking woman in the world! And I'm her twin. So what does that say about me?
I think with her abundant talent and looks, Aishwarya deserves all the accolades that come her way. Right from the beginning of her career Aishwarya came across to me as a dedicated actor and a very hard-working person, totally devoted to her work. I always found her warm-hearted and caring towards her costars and other colleagues. So far we have worked together in Josh, Mohabbatein and Devdas. In all these movies, the characters we portrayed were very different from each other. In Josh, we were twins and in the other two she played my sweetheart. I don't know her closely because we have worked in only three movies together. But I know for sure that she is a very talented person with the ability to bring her characters to life. She is always joyful and full of enthusiasm on the sets. Working with her recently for Devdas was an enjoyable experience. Not just entire cast, but the crew and me would love to work with her again. With her talents I wish her all the very best in life and hope she keeps getting better professionally. May she also get bigger and better roles and progress on all fronts.
Aishwarya is never to me. I've worked with her in Josh, as my twin sister. Hamari shakal ek jaisi hai, to mein Mr World ban sakta ho. But somewhere down the line, I've got to really see that when she wants, and when she can feel like doing it, she gets very emotional.
* Shakti Kapoor:
I really wish Salman marries Aishwarya Rai and next year, I get to play with his child. In fact, I pray to God that he have twins!
* Shankar:
Too much is being made of my obsession for Aishwarya Rai. I did enjoy working with her in Jeans. It's also true that she was my first choice for Indian and Mudhalvan... but she couldn't manage the required dates. But I'm certainly not obsessed with Aishwarya Rai. I read an item somewhere, which said I'd named my daughter Aishwarya because of my liking for Ms World -- Aishwarya Rai. That's not true. My daughter was born long before the actress Aishwarya came into my movies.
* Sharad Kapoor:
Right now Aishwarya is on top. She has an amazing screen presence and looks great in Indian and western outfits. She knows her work well and doesn't go overboard.
* Sharmila Tagore:
Aishwarya Rai is the defination of 'perfect'! They (her daughter) would rather watch Aishwarya Rai, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan than anyone else!
* Shashilal Nair:
I must admit I had reservations when we started working for Hum Panchhi Ek Dal Ke, as the movie involved a lot of interactions with children. However, Aishwarya has put all my doubts to rest. She is a natural with children. Between Sunil, Ash and the rest of the crew, working was suddenly a lot of fun.
* Sheffali Chhaya:
Aishwarya is a very beautiful girl.
* Shekar Kapur:
She has dignity. She reminds me of Nargis or Madhubala.
* Shilpa Shetty:
We belong to the same tiny community. I really admire Ash. She's made it so big. Whenever we meet, it's a laugh riot.
* Shreya Ghoshal:
I have always admired Aishwarya. I was so excited when I realised I would sing for her. I met her first on the sets of Devdas. She is so humble. I remember between shots, we would sit together, and Sanjayji would ask me to sing Lataji's songs. Aishwarya has an ear for music, so she would join in too.
* Shweta Menon:
A lot of girls dropped out because Aishwarya was participating, but then Aishwarya is Aishwarya, she say placidly, if mystifingly.
* Sonali Bendre:
I was also worried about working with Aishwarya Rai. She's so beautiful. I can't take my eyes off her when she comes on screen.
* Sonu Nigam:
I think we have plenty of beautiful heroines. But I like Aishwarya, Marilyn Monroe and Tabu, for her expressions.
* Subhash Ghai:
Ash is Miss World, in the real sense! She has a truly international face, along with talent in abundance. As an artist, she does not hesitate in putting that extra effort. She was a joy to work with during the making of Taal. People have often asked me why I had not changed her name to something that starts with 'M', to which I say that as she was Miss World which starts with 'M', I didn't see the need to do so. She has already proved herself time and again and I feel she is one of the best performers we have today.
She is very strong and at the same time very emotional. She is a big star and at the same time very accessible. She is committed to a point of obsession.
* Suhasini Rathnam:
When Aishwarya came to Madras to act in Iruvar, I was not stunned by her beauty, but her modesty and simplicity. Quite contrary to what is believed of her, she is not only nice but also very, very sweet. The biggest joke was when she asked my advice on how to maintain a good, clear skin. I was aghast. So, I told her. Imagine I got to advise Miss World on how to keep her beautiful in the face of such grueling conditions. Aishwarya may look soft and quiet, but has a way of gentle teasing. I have rarely seen women, especially beautiful women complementing another. But Ash is not like that. I used to read the dialogues and she would tease me saying, "When you read, your eyes are acting."
* Sunil Shetty:
Ash is a pucca professional. She's known me for a while. We share a good working relationship. She's seen success as Miss World. She has been around the globe. She's not an upstart. Hits and flops will not change her equations with people.
* Sushma Reddy:
I've also known Aishwarya Rai from her modelling days. She's awesome and, in fact, she used to come home to stay with Meghna when they were modelling together. They would be at my place quite often. She hasn't changed a bit inspite of being such a huge success. In my opinion, she is the most balanced actress today. She knows how to juggle it all. She's beautiful, she is very good with her PR. She's good to talk to and a good human being and she hasn't changed. There's no air, no hang-ups when you talk to Ash. She's very level with you and I really like her for that.
* Sushmita Sen:
I have always thought of her as immensely beautiful but I'm sure there's something in me as well that has got the media impressed. Today people compare us as two actresses; a while ago it was between two models. Aishwarya has a very conventional coy look. Even the kinds of roles that are offered to her are on a different tangent as opposed to mine.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Tabu:
Working with Ash was a fascinating experience too. I like the way she is growing into a very good actress, much better than some of the actresses who call themselves good actresses but end up as mannequins and dolls.
* Tanaaz Currim:
I tell you, she's a visual treat. And she's so professional that one has to see it to believe it. She is the epitome of perfection, I'd say.
* Tanuja Chandra:
There is so much in her that is untapped. I will get inside her skin and make her lose her inhibitions completely. She has a certain zing and I need someone who can be madly spontaneous.
* Tiku Talsania:
Aishwarya is a fantastic actress.
* Tusshar Kapoor:
Inspite being such a big star she is so accommodating, I’m truly privileged to have her as co-star. There were many times on the sets when we discussed scenes before rehearsals and she is so supportive.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Vijayendra Ghatge:
Aishwarya is cooperative, easy to work with and down to earth. She has taken a lot of effort in each scene and dance. And she looks stunning!
* Vivek Oberoi:
She's a beautiful person. Every time we work together, I tell her how she overshadows me completely.
I am working with her in Sameer Karnik’s Kyon Ho Gaya Na along with Amitji. So far in my life I haven’t seen a lady as beautiful as Ash. She is extraordinary, picture perfect. She has a very humble behaviour too. Good looks with good behaviour is indeed a rare combination. As an actress too she has proved her talent in films like Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. We do share a great rapport and enjoy working together. She is also in the Hollywood film, The Invaders where she plays an Indian spy girl.
Ash has got the whole thing out of her system and she is back at work with a vengeance.
What's more, I am not the sort to blindly fall for good looks. Yes Ash and I get along famously and between the two of us, we laugh off the rumours. I call her up and say, okay, so here is the latest gossip about us and we make light of it. As long as it is not something degrading, undignified, cheap or malicious, it's okay. But it becomes awkward because both of us have families we return home to. Meeting each other's families also becomes uncomfortable. I respect and appreciate her family so much. Aunty Vrinda and I have really nice conversations. I have met Mr Rai. Once in a while, I meet her brother. When my parents drop in on my sets, she interacts with them. It is just like any other association and relationship.

Stars on Aishwarya Rai
* Yash Chopra:
I was at Cannes last year and I saw how people noticed her. She is capable of making it abroad.
She acted very well in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam though one cannot deny Sanjay Leela Bhansali's contribution to her performance. Since I have not directed her, it is really difficult for me to comment on her acting abilities.
She combines the East and the West with elan. Unfortunately, we had her in very limited presence in Adi’s Mohabbatein and I’m keen that she does a full-fledged role for Yash Raj banner, and hopefully this will happen soon.
* Yukta Mookhey:
She's a stunning beauty who's lucky to have got fabulous roles in films made by Subhash Ghai and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I hope the same happens to me some day.

I think its Aishwarya Rai, who unfortunately, I have never met. I am paying her a big compliment when I say this, but I think, physically, she is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. I am an ardent fan of hers. She is the most beautifully perfect woman I have ever laid my eyes upon. I think it's a little unfair that God did this to the rest of the women!
I enjoy working with her in movie “Shabd”.

“Biography”
AISHWARYA RAI: (Ash) is one of Bollywood's pre-eminent leading ladies. This Indian darling burst upon the world stage when her striking beauty, poise and commanding intelligence won her the Miss World crown in 1994. This former architecture major soon became one of India's most famous models landing a prestigious Pepsi campaign and appearing in Vogue Magazine. India's top Bollywood directors were soon lining up to work with Ash. Her film debut in Mani Rathnam's 'Iruvar' (1997) received critical acclaim and her performance in Rahul Rawail's '…Aur Paar Ho Gaya' (1997) garnered her the Best Female Debutante Award. In 2000 she was awarded Best Actress by FilmFare and Zee Cine for her work in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", in that same year, nominated for Best SUPPORTING Actress for her special appearance in Aditya Chopra's MOHABBATEIN. In 2001 Ash was nominated for FilmFare's Best Actress Award for Satish Kaushik's "Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai".
Ash's star continued to rise in 2002 working again with Sajay Leela Bhansali in 'Devdas'. 'Devdas' is the most ambitious and most successful film in Bollywood history. It became the first Bollywood picture to ever receive a special screening at this year's Cannes Film Festival and broke box-office records in India and the United States. Daily Variety's (06/12/02) Derek Elley describes 'Devdas' as "…some of the most sumptuous production values in Bollywood history…" Elley describes Ash as "almost Audrey Hepburn-like", Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann says "I loved her in Devdas" and Julia Roberts calls her "the world's most beautiful woman".
2003 brought even more exciting opportunities. Ash became the first Indian actor to be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival. Ash is also the latest member of the elite L'Oreal Dream Team, joining beauties Catherine Deneuve & Andie MacDowell as their international ambassador. She graced the covers of India Today and the prestigious TIME Magazine. Time Magazine has also listed her on their list of the “100 Most Influential People in the World Today”. Ash was also listed on Rolling Stone Magazine's annual "Hot List", Hello Magazine’s Most Attractive Women in the World”, Stuff Magazine, FHM magazine, V-Life from Variety Magazine, GQ Magazine, New York Times Magazine, People Magazine and countless others.
"Bride and Prejudice", a re-working of the Jane Austin classic opposite actor Martin Henderson (The Ring), directed by Gurinder Chadha was released.
To close 2004, Ash launched her “Official Website” www.AishwaryaWorld.com and has the great honor of being the first Indian Female immortalized in wax at the world famous Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum in London.
The Aishwarya Rai Foundation was established to help those less fortunate who are in need of support. During her travels Ash researches issues close to her heart, namely, the world's ill treatment of women, children, the elderly and animals. Her hope is to eventually dedicate most of her energies and time in support of her Foundation. www.AishwaryaRaiFoundation.net
2005 started off with a bang! Aishwarya became the first Bollywood star to be featured in a one-on-one profile on 60 Minutes. 60 Minutes is the #1 news show in America. Due to the strong demand from India to view her 60 Minutes appearance, the weekly show is now broadcast throughout the country for the first time, making it one of the most watched news shows in the world. Appearances on David Letterman and Good Morning America; both very popular shows in America were very well received by viewers. Ash will appear on the #1 talk show in the world, The Oprah Winfrey Show, whom Ash credits Oprah as "a pure inspiration".
Scheduled filming of "Mistress of Spices" directed by Paul Berges, Dhoom 2 directed by Sanjay Gadhvi, "Provoked" directed by Jag Mundhra and “Windfall – the Bhopal Story” of which she will also serve as Executive Producer, are all set for 2005.
